  1. I contemplated the same configuration. Take my 4'x2'x'2' tank, and make it 4x4x2, but still only sticking out 2'. Put that project on hold, and instead remodeled the fish room to add frag tanks. Given the new sump/plumbing locations, new tank can no longer poke back into the fish room equip room.
  2. That looks great. Is the plan to have it straddle the wall long term? (half into the room, half out of the room)
  3. Yes, still going to engrave them. Just need to get an engraver. Which I forgot to look for last night at HD.
  4. Preview what's going in empty slot on the right of th e sump. Dry fit the pump complex, below shelf for the Chiller.
  5. Check it out, Complete Success - Found at Home Depot. More pictures on R2R thread.
  6. Duplicated on R2R, let's see if any other good ideas are out there. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-do-you-store-track-mp40-wet-sides.721609/
  7. Another Milestone day competed yesterday - Sump Swap complete! My 20yr old ~30gal sump, support shelf, under-sump pumps, chiller, and return plumbing were all removed. New poly panel put up on left and back wall. BTW, my original solution was cheapest thin acrylic, glued to the walls with silicon sealant. Worked well, came off clean, but clear meant didn't look clean. New ~90 gallon sump installed, on 1/2" insulation. Bulk head and union valve installed ready for pump complex, and temporary eheim return pump put in for the night. Will buy me time to plumb in final pumps/returns, and the glue to dry. Before: Removed: (poly walls installed) After:
  8. Thanks for the inputs. I'm thinking engrave and a spreadsheet is the way to track. It's interesting no one stores more formally than the original box (or in my case, just a bin) This topic may need the wider exposure of R2R. I'll post that up later.
  9. I'm impressed. I've added peppermint shrimp so many times to help with aptasia, with Zero noticeable results. So I simply stopped even trying.
  10. Anything on the bottom will make it easier than Bare. you could even just use really coarse or Puka shell gravel. that would work. Berghia will eat an Aptasia every 1-2 days. I ran out of them super fast. You need time for the berghia you get to grow. Then lay eggs, and hatch. Then grow out the little pin pricks into berghia again. Its actually a fun cycle. BTW, another source to feed your Aptasia farm is visit a few local fish stores. I noticed easy to get to overflows at All Things Aquariums at the club meeting there last year. Overflows are my prime place to harvest Aptasia from. (concentrated and usually easy to get) See if they'd let you harvest? You get the idea.
  11. Heads up. In order to grow out Berghia, you have to be able to Feed Berghia. They only eat Aptasia. Kind of counter intuitive, but better start a side tank to culture Aptasia Right Now. And feed it heavily so they grow out. Put in simple things for aptasia to land on, and move into bergia tanks easily. Maybe line the tank bottom with small floor tiles. So you can just remove one at a time and feed to berghia directly. I've cultured these guys at least three times. First time I starved them, thinking I'd get the Aptasia right out of my tank to feed them. Didn't work In general, they were Super Easy to grow and get to breed. I saved deli containers and grew in those. poke a hold, add an airline bubbling for light water motion. Add an aptasia or two when they're gone. Deli Continers, like these: https://www.uline.com/BL_1517/Deli-Containers?keywords=deli+food+containers
  12. Great post. The insight into what the experience is like personally, as well as what projects you've got going is insightful. Happy there's SOME value coming out of this (the upgrades/maint).
  13. Open question, How do you store & track your MP40 (or MP10/MP60) wet sides? I've got 5 MP40's spinning in tanks now, and approximately 3 working spare wet sides, 3 retired/broken wet sides, and 1 new wet side in an unopened box. I'll admit, I've done a crappy job of storing them. Just coupled to each other, through ~1/4" of cardboard between. I'll admit, I've lost track which ones are newly opened spare from Dec'19, which ones came from 2018, and which ones i got from buying new. Current thoughts on organizing them a plastic box, with cell for each wet side small layer of foam / bubble wrap at bottom, to reduce magnetism and impact from outside metal Current thought on tracking Dedicate each cell to each Specific wet side. Even if it's in use (not there), or in storage (in the box) Keep tracking note in each cell. When bought/acquired, working condition (a few make slight noise), and if In use - WHERE in my tanks. (eg: left MP40 in main tank) Downside... if I accidentally mix up the box, all individual wet side tracking is scrambled. Another option, scratch an ID number into the plastic of the wetside itself. Thoughts? Q: How do YOU store and track your Wet Sides. (for MP40's, or for any equivalent in tank wet side) Q: What do you think of my thoughts? Q: Anyone already figured out the a good plastic box that fits MP40's well. See picture of fit in a "Plano 23730-05 Prolatch Stowaway Deep with Adjustable Dividers" (amazon it) Not an ideal fit, would have to cut Horizontal dividers.
  14. East Recirc pump and plumbing replaced. New shelf installed. And new West pump just set on shelf, waiting on final white plumbing removal, so there's room to plumb it. Yes, cable management is part of the plan. OLD: Blue pumps, white plumbing NEW: Yellow pumps, grey plumbing Before During After
  15. In case you want to see what's going in tonight. White union in the back connect directly to bulk head in back of tank. (thus it's being drained tonight to do this swap) Union at the top goes into hood to sea swirl.
  16. I misread your message. Where's that (embarrassed emoji). Thanks for pointing it out.
  17. John - how much history does YOUR scroll bar in fusion give you. I have not changed the default 10min setting (see below). I also just checked, I can only get back to Feb13, 2020. (wondered it it was 2019 and I didn't notice. Nope.) Punch line, looks like 3 months retention. (Feb 13 -> May 13)
  18. Order placed July 24th, Ready for pickup Aug 30th. (>1 month)
  19. I dragged my my slider to the far left, and got back to Feb 13-14th.
  20. I ordered through National Tank Outlet, and was charged $25 pickup fee. https://www.ntotank.com/ This is a July 2019 order.
  21. I've recently been exploring Msft Office 365. We're converting to it at work. One tool caught my eye, Power Automate. One of the specific Flows that can be automated is coming to mind right now. "UI Flows" - record manually done GUI steps. Might have to try this on fusion charts.
  22. I ordered from Norwesco and picked up from Washougal, which I understand you don't want to do. But I had one learning to share. When ordering, there was an option to get them with bulk heads pre-installed (for a few extra $), or not. And install the bulk heads myself. I'm *SO* happy I got the bulk heads pre-installed. Getting into my 75G tank to install them myself would have been a Major pain. If you have an option, buy tanks with Bulk Heads pre-installed.
  23. General Apex/Fusion question. Can I pre-define a chart, instead of having to recreate it Every Single Day? I'm finding I monitor my system the same way on a regular basis. two examples; 1. pH verses my ATO dosing with Kalk allows me to see when Kalk need to refill. For example, May 10 was out of Kalk. (pH still drops during ATO) Refilled KALK. May 11 shows pH increases curing ATO - Kalk supply still good. (BTW, you can also see my ATO hitting my "sump at target" switch each night. Blue tall bars, move to short once hit Sump Sensor) 2. Tank Temp verses Room Temp, and how often my chiller kicks in (or heater) Looking for alternative influences, and for malfunctioning chiller/heater. Anyone know if I can freeze chart configs like this in Fusion and come back to them easily?
  24. Last night, committed plumbing to glue for the East recirc pump replacement. Tonight was to swap it in. Drain half the tank, pull out old plumbing, mount new pump shelf, install new plumbing. That plan was scrapped. Did a dry run of where everything would fit before draining tank... bulk head to wall, 9". New plumbing, 11.5". Replanned location, and cut apart part of last nights work to salvage the union valve threaded ring. (I have replacement pipe to union fittings). New glue job, will try again tomorrow. New Plumbing glued last night Whoops, cut it apart tonight Newly glued, for use tomorrow
  25. Took a pause while the realization of "need more plumbing pieces" sunk in, ordered, and received what's needed. New shelf for the two re-circulation pumps done, and painted. This week, expecting to remove and replace the East recir pump, including install this new shelf. Also realized, the west -recirc pump that was pulled out last week will Stay Offline until the new sump and new pump complex is installed. (It's plumbing needs existing/old plumbing removed.) Dual Pump Shelf. Pump on left (east), Pump on right (west), and main sump return plumbing come up the middle.
