  1. Check out this 8020 light support bar. Isn’t this exactly what you’re trying to do?
  2. Congratulations! Love to see new growth like this.
  3. Some new additions. Thanks Jeff @CuttleFishandCoral, the tank now has a nice large Blond Naso Tang and the frag tanks have a new Copper Banded Butterfly who's eating well and a simple scopas tang. There's some junk in the tank that needs cleaning up. New Naso Full Tank Crew, a shot of the aquascape, and I'm in the uglies phase still. Little Scopas for frag tank cleanup Copper banded butterfly, eating well right into the tank Eating Hikari frozen cubes of Spirulina Brine Shrimp IMG_9258.MOV
  4. Well... one my canisters cracked a while ago. So I happen to have a spare lid. You’re welcome to it. I’m on the west side of Portland. PM me if interested.
  5. All three out of date, but not too bad. You're welcome to them if you want them.
  6. I actually have a bag of misc kits I'm willing to donate. Let me dig them up and tell you what they are.
  7. My AWC is done by DOS pumps. I could set it up to ignore ATO sensors, turn off Main Tank return pump, extract 20% of tank volume, refill 20% tank volume, restart everything. (I don't have it setup that way right now, but it's easy to switch the programming.) I lugged buckets/hoses for YEARS. I'm now <1yr wtih AWC (and a dedicated mixing station). Amazing difference in quality of reefkeeping for me. In fairness, I have manually changed 5-10 gallons a couple of times. But I did it to manually syphoning out some junk in the frag tank bottoms/corners. And then just used the mixing station to fill an equiv volume of 5 gallon bucket water and dump it into the sump. My original setup did not have a bulkhead&water tap that allowed gravity to pull new salt water into a 5gallon bucket. So I had a pump and a hose do it. That was slow and painful. New setup has new saltwater container off the floor, room for 5 gallon bucket under the tap. Fills the bucket soo fast I don't mind doing it. But this is still infrequent.
  8. No matter how easy it is, I commend you for wanting to practice and get a little experience before committing to the mission-critical drill job. It just makes sense.
  9. Congrats to both of you. It's the way to go. Couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger this summer. Where our electrical is, and how loaded it is, I think It'll be a big install job. Bought a non-automatic, non-whole house generator instead. Just In Case...
  10. PM'd. I'll take the Wrasse, Foxface, Anthias, and Tomini Tang. (all fish, except the trigger)
  11. Its just the black thing, to visually pull your attention to the right - towards the fish tank. Thanks for the complements everyone.
  12. First the tank, then the skin&stand. Next came painting the brick fireplace and new mantel. Still working exactly what to hold the TV - but the family room remodel is looking good!
  13. Our view of the drying rack in our laundry room struck my this morning.
  14. Can you tell me about cartridges for lowering Silicate levels? Kent marine had a product called Hi-S, but It doesn't seem like a common product/feature/or advertising from other RODI makers?
  15. I'll second this recommendation. Bob Smith Industries glue and BSI Insta-Set. Insta-Set was the game changer for me. But, I do rinse my newly glued coral&plug before dropping them back into the system. Even a simple dip and a Solo cup of tank salt water is enough. And for my work, I only used two tools. Large BRS SPS Coral Bone Cutter (most important), BRS Large Curved Blade SPS Coral Cutter (when they're BIG or Really tough). Recently I acquired an aqua saw. I fragged for a long time without one. But I'll nod, It REALLY makes a difference to cut a smooth surface to glue down. And super easy to use.
  16. Your plans make sense. On my end, I had a crash in my frag tanks - while working on setting up the new display tank. I either overfeed for the smaller volume of water (yes, PO4 and NO3 were up like yours), or my water flow was off, or the phase of the moon shifted... (feels like it some times) In either case, I'm all set up to start the new display tank with Mostly new stock. So I feel your pain.
  17. @SuncrestReef - Checking in. Have you stabilized, any improvements? Thinking Happy/Hopeful thoughts for you and your reef now that it's 2021.
  18. Little bit of a late update, but the hood and skin is primed, painted, installed - and doing great! I've moved on to the obvious cable management that's needed underneath. What's cool about a tank that's 3' wide, and doesn't have any plumbing under it ... I can completely climb inside to work on it. Although there's always something More to tweak or do, this tank is officially moving onto the Focus on Livestock stage. Stand & Hood: Some Electrical Work:
  19. Just finished upgrading display tanks. Took down my 14yr old display tank in October. Its now in the garage, ready to sell. Was planning to write it up next week, but since you're looking. Tank: 48" x 22" (front to back) x 24" (tall). Custom glass tank. Have original plans if you want specifics. Nice Corner triage braces, no center brace. Sturdy & solid Back Wall drilled for two hard plumbed recirc loops. External Overflow Box, built in, upper right corner. In good shape for >10yrs use. fully cleaned Stand: Old antique dresser. Rock solid, but has salt creep damage where I couldn't see it against one wall. Hood: Custom, water wear on solid oak bars designed to be easily refinished if wanted. I think its a great design. Have used it with Halides, and most recently LEDs. Price, I'm more motivated to have it gone. What would you like to pay for it. PM me if interested Located in Portland area. Just before take down. Tank being cleaned. (view of backside)
  20. You passed on the light recommendation, mine arrives this afternoon, so I'll pass on my cable management recommendation. https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-2inx1in-Wiring-Cable-Raceway/dp/B00066HOPM/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=cable+raceway+startech+1x+1.5"&qid=1609092182&s=electronics&sr=1-3 There's multiple options out there, use amazon search for startech cable raceway. I used a bunch of this size.
