  1. SnowMagedon has been good for some basic tank maintenance. Yesterday I installed two diffusers I picked up from @Bicyclebill in mid January. The middle pair of Radions were missing diffusers, and just got around to installing them. Thanks Bill!
  2. Look what showed up in my inbox this morning. I'm going to hold out a little bit longer. But nice to see they're still making them. I was beginning to wonder. Thank you for registering for Reefbot (#11139) notifications. Reefbot (#11139) is available for purchase for a limited time until stocks are out.Hurry up and add Reefbot (#11139) directly to your cart https://www.reefkinetics.com/cart/?add-to-cart=11139
  3. Here was my fun at 10:30am this morning. Lost power from 1:30-3am today. No visible fish tank problems, all was running fine when I got up. Later, went to do some maint and the dedicated EB832 for my mixing station setup is offline. What!? Unplugged, replugged - would power up the outlets, and shut back off. Never showing any color on the neptune symbol. Unplugged, replugged - same result. Took a picture of where all the outlets plug in. Unplugged everything. Unplugged the three USB/Communication cables from it, unplugged the 1link connection. Pulled off the wall - pressed the Circuit Breaker button on the back. (with no noticeable effect) Plugged BARE EB832 back in. Booted just fine. Flashing Orange symbol - Its looking to find the mother Apex controller. Plugged the USB's back in, communicating just fine. Plugged all the outlets back in, everything working fine. Unplugged, replugged fully loaded EB832 - Everything is working fine. Oh how I hate an electronic mystery like this. Imagine if I was on a 2week business trip... Oh wait, that's not likely in the next 10 months. I can just keep monitoring it. Anyone else have occasional EB832 "lock ups?"
  4. Glad to see you've got backup power. I read your post to my wife and her reply was, "Let's Go - I'll bet he's having a Great Sale!" Jeff, you help the community so often - please know if you get in a jam, just reach out. Spare propane, Hot coffee, Space heaters... If you need Apex programming help, I'll send @SuncrestReef.
  5. Went for a drive yesterday, to swap a frag for a shrimp with @sharambil. Crunchy, but mostly mushy. But that underlayer of ice in dark spots. Number of trees down around us and what surprised me is now many had really shallow roots. Seemed like <1' under the surface. Took a more scenic route home and got stopped on the the one narrow/hill section. Someone picked yesterday to move, and had a big uhaul truck. luckily we were following for a distance and saw them get stuck within few hundred yards of top of the hill. We could still turn around and go back.
  6. We rarely loose power too. Lost it for 90 minutes, starting at 1:30am today. Whole house went silent, which woke me up. very strange feeling. What'd I do about it... Slept. Came back on around 3am. nothing harmed.
  7. Sorry to hear you're in a tight spot. If I was closer, I'd come help - but driving down today just doesn't seem the safe thing to do. Good luck.
  8. Thanks everyone. Looking forward to a drive to Hillsboro and shopping!
  9. I'll take one (or both if Zoolander falls through). I'm located close to you. PM sent.
  10. Did you have a Jumper? Sorry for your loss.
  11. BTW - for my install, I'm going to size where the brackets can go - and then bias final install with what size plastic cutting board I can find on Amazon - and hopefully with a drip/juice groove. When shelf is folded up, I'll get less drips on the floor. An easy wipe with a towel before folding down, clean up inevitable splashes, then fold the shelf down. https://smile.amazon.com/Extra-Plastic-Carving-Groove-Certified/dp/B083F9WB86/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=plastic+cutting+board+black+groove&qid=1613066468&sr=8-14
  12. Are you planning any Counter Top space around the sink to set things, while you're washing/etc? In my frag room, I didn't add any counter space and find I'm constantly bringing in a stool to set things on while working in the tanks. I've now got a pair of Flip Up Shelf brackets, in stainless, to install for a "counter-on-demand." Space is a premium in my equipment room. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VSZ4G7H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. I used 1/2 inch black HDPE "marine board" in my build, and its great! (I think Marine board, and Star Board are the same thing - based on this tap plastics link.) I used one sheet on top of my stand. I used a second sheet as the inside "floor" of my stand. I love how sturdy if feels. https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/king_starboard/526
  14. Thanks. The Pro version was also listed as Out-of-Stock. Wonder if covid is impacting their ability to supply parts.
  15. There was a recent R2R thread, poling about target feeding corals. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/are-you-direct-feeding-your-corals-in-2021-and-is-it-worth-it.798117/ A couple of posts in, I enjoyed this video. Realize, this in one persons method/opinion.
  16. Fantastic looking reactor. I've got a bigger one that I need to upgrade to, a GEO 818. Have been waiting for new display tank to mature enough to add a bunch of new corals - and then will need bigger reactor.
  17. Little more PAR testing today. Display tank, top of rock stack: 144 Frag tank : 243 Will need to keep ramping up display tank intensity. Display Tank Frag Tank
  18. Great idea, Raffles are fun. 1 free ticket for Paradise Coral bag please.
  19. It's not about being annoying. Its about not having to wait for others to jump in. (and occasionally giving wrong answers)
  20. @TheClarkThanks for this update and overview. I'm interested. Checked out mfg website, looks like it's out of stock. Do resellers have these too, or is it only available from ReefKinetics.com? https://www.reefkinetics.com/product/reefbot/
  21. I identified a new goby @psychofireman added to his tank today. And afterwards realized How I did it may be worth sharing. On my phone (iphone), the Google app has a button that lets you search based on an image. It's called Google-Lens. This is a huge help and I use it regularly, for more than aquarium stuff. In this case, I just pointed it at my screen - and up came the answer. Screen Shots from my phone: Thread:
  22. Congrats on getting these two cool gobies. A little googling, and looks like you got Valenciennea helsdingenii. Valenciennea helsdingenii is a species of goby from the Indo-Pacific. It is commonly known as the twostripe goby, black-lined sleeper goby, or railway sleeper goby. https://reefbuilders.com/2015/07/11/awesome-fish-spotlight-valenciennea-helsdingenii/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valenciennea_helsdingenii
