So, as some of you know, we just setup a used Apex in the last few weeks. Well, the wife went with me on the truck for a two day run down the coast. Yesterday morning I get a text from the Apex that the temp was below 75 deg. So we decide to watch it for awhile, I keep getting messages that it is still dropping. Then I notice that the Amp are double what it normally is, and suspect the heater is crapping out. At this point we deicide it is best to turn the heater off remotely in case it burns up or crack and shorts out. Stopped at TPA on the way home (we can park the semi truck behind Kmart and walk a 1/2 block). Got home and sure enough, the heater had several burned places on the inside of the glass. Im sure if we had left the heater going, things would have been much worse.

We obviously didnt do enough research on the Puffer. But, now that we have him, we are going to do the best we can to make him a good home. That being said, we are looking for a cube tank similar to the biocube footprint without the built in sump. We are a little cramped for space, and will have to move the 75 over just a little bit as it is.

I bought a 925gph Sicce pump from a local dealer, which made noise and under performed. I filed a claim with the company which answered the phone like it was her personal cell phone and have yet to do anything or even respond to my warranty claim, which was filed 3 weeks ago. I finally returned the pump for a refund and bought a Hydor, which is working perfectly. JMO.

I have a nice Hammer Coral for sale today, it is light purple and light green with at least 2 heads. $40, also have a small Toad Stool Leather $10, and a softy similar to a Kenya tree $15. Im making some room SPSs. Im in Salem. Would consider trading for cool SPS frags. Thanks

So, I've been thinking today (which usually gets me in trouble, and always cost me money). We just recently setup our 75G with a 30g sump and Deltec skimmer, the original idea was to get rid of both of the Biocubes, but the Misses wanted a Puffer...so we got a Stars and Stripes Puffer for one of the Biocubes. Part of the reasoning behind getting the larger tank was to have less tanks to take care of, ie water changes,testing etc. But now with the Puffer, we have just as much work if not more than before, which brings me to the point. Would it make since to setup another tank (not the biocube) next to the the 75G and drill it,so we could share the benifits of the larger water volume,skimmer,live rock and the Apex controller? Or would that create too much bio load? If it would work,then we would sell the Biocube,since I don't really want to drill modify it (I'm always concerned about resale value if I modify something). Anyways, thanks for your thoughts and advice.

Thanks matty, I cant tell you how many times Ive read that statement and kept thinking I was setting the actual temp setting even though I knew where to set the temp. Sometimes another set of eyes is all you need. Thanks again.

So I picked up a used Apex system a few days ago, and for the most part I have it figured out but,... several times a day I get an email and text from the unit. The messages are similar to this: Date: 2015-08-22 08:49:00 (2015-08-22 15:49:00 UTC) Status: ON Statement: If Temp < 77.0 Then ON (75.6 ) This is how I have it set: Fallback On Set off If Temp <77 Then On If Temp >78 Then Off Im sure it is an easy fix, but I cant figure it out. Thanks in advance.

So I picked up a used Apex yesterday (thanks Frankb) with a new PH probe. I assume the probe needs to be calibrated? It is brand new and still has the end cap with some kind of fluid in it. Is there a special fluid I need? Is it something I can get locally? Thanks.
