  1. Hey, I bet some members here w/ mixed reef tanks have tips. I bet some of these things tolerate each other more than they do others.
  2. Same here, I seem to be a little more sensitive than most. The mushrooms make my hand tingle little if I have to handle them. I go out of my way to avoid contact w/ my hammers. Like placing them at night when there closed more. They are on rocks that are big enough to hold them, but small enough to be move easily. This 1 is 2 big heads, w/ a bunch of baby 1's. Not a big hammer but his sweepers sure are big. I just read something that said this behavior can be curbed, but not eradicateded.
  3. The hammer I know is a jerk. I've already move things on it's account. I realize also that the bta can sting, but will they like the hammer go after things. I have been noticing the 1 hammer stretching out as if to get to the other LPS. Maybe I'm just finding things have gotten big enough that that need a little shifting. I think it's time to go through all those bookmarks I've collected.
  4. Where is there a guide available for placing things in a tank. How are we to know what can be close and what will kill it's neighbor? I've noticed some zoas in mt tank that are close only on the side next to my BTA. I'll assume they don't like each other. Also there is a candy cane that looks like it ran into a wall on the side where 1 of my hammers is placed. There is about 3" in between all said placements. I think they are still to close. I've reached that point w/ my tank where things have grown up a little and I've added a little too. Is there a general rule or is experience the teaching factor?
  5. Just a Few pic. Seeing as I need the practice taking pic. I like the first 1 I posted for Aprail POTM but not the second. My new sps, will be adding another today. There will be pics And a few of my smaller frags This 1 must be a slow grower. It's been in my tank since the beginning almost and hasn't really grown too much. Still I missed the last meeting, and some 1 should fill me in on the picture taking tips that were handed out. I'd love to see more color in the shots I take under the actinics.
  6. I have 2 already so maybe they'll do some good
  7. I have to admit I like to say I hate you to, but I wont cause I recognize my tank envy. Very nice, 1 of the nicest I've seen.

Any way I decided to put mine in my DT. Here it is.
  9. awesome tank. I bet you dose a lot of calcium? Any tips for those of us getting into sps'es? From the look of your tank, you should have some good ones.

    frsh water dip

Okay, looked at the id data base here. I think their acros, but like I said sps are scott's thing and this would be my first 1.

    frsh water dip

Oh he just dropped them and went to work. Can some 1 tell me a little about them, like what they are. He's been more into sps'es than I have.

    frsh water dip

Okay, so put them in the QT, then dip the in RX. than acclimate them to the DTs? We just want to make sure there aren't any pests. They are healthy out side of being brown. I looked them over really well and I don't see anything that alarms me about them. Would it be a bad idea to put mine right in after acclamation? Mine is the 1 in the middle.

Here they are. Yes we realize they're brown right now.

    frsh water dip

I'm responsible for acclimating 3 sps'es 2 LC Scott's 1 mine. The decision has been made to dip them before adding them to the DTs. I've read a little about this but have not done it yet. The corals show no signs of stress. I think I should dip them and put them back in the water they came in, than acclimate them to the tank water.Could some 1 tell me if I'm wrong and how to do it. Also how long should I dip them. He wants me to put his in a QT tank for a couple of days. I'm not comfortable w/ this. because there isn't appropriate lighting for the corals in the QT tank.
  15. It will be a min. until your tank cycles, but these are really hardy and should do well when you're ready. I'll frag some of my mushrooms for you too. That's a long trip so I'll make it worth your time. Love to help a new reefer by sharing the love.
  16. The rock die off should be enough to cycle, and when you're ready for corals I have a green star polyp and some kenya tree. I realize Renton is a little far but I could meet you a little closer to where you're at.
  17. We should start different topics for this chat thing. I think it would draw more people in.
  18. That is a truly great idea, impur. Less work. Oh and thx stylaster. I was willing to go through that to get rid of the blue and not have to look at the wall behind it either. It's good to know how to do it right
  19. Thank you stylaster. Now what about re painting, even an option?

Thank you Emerald. I never touched a computer except for games or music, until my tank. http://www.chucksaddiction.com/clams.html
