  1. Ditto. Block the lower ends and fill the pipes with tank water to purge them. Pull the impeller at the return pump and look for a broken blade or cracks? If you can't pull it, build a simple closed loop set up for it with some clear tube and look for bubbles at the exit side.
  2. We left Wednesday for SanDiego for 6 days, had a friend watch the house, dogs, cats, tanks etc,and all was good until 9:30 pm Sunday. We had just finished eating and watching the sunset in 80 degree weather at a pool party and the phones started that ringtone that makes you think "oh god,its her...what happened"? Apparently Sheena, our pet whisperer, had been watching tv when she heard popping, snapping noises in the walls and the home theater/fish tank room went black! I had her grab a flashlight and check the breakers..nothing. I started calling those members closest to my house!! Brian aka bswe22 was home and hadn't put his son to bed yet. He rushed over, through the bluetooth phone bud in and dove into the darkness. It ended up being an ATO pump on one of the tanks that failed, ran the sump low enoughh to expose the heater, popped the heater( snapping noises in the walls) and shorted the breaker that sheena couldn't find. I had a new heater and RODI water made up,problem solved in a few minutes. THANK YOU bswee22! I hope the Double double from In and Out in Redding found its way to the "can't pay you enough for saving the tanks" fund/stomach. And THANK YOU Sheena...she will never see that, but she desreves it too!

  8. 1.024 at the surface. I have read the lower in the tank, the higher the SG. I'm ggambling that on the bottom its 1.026 ish. Don't know if it is as important between 1.023 and 1.027 as it is to use a good salt. It seems everyone that is doing well with their tanks starts with good water( ro/di and test the water going in and out, tds) then good salt, there are many, check out the group buys to see who's using what and how many people are using it, then SG. As Ca2or mentioned,it is not tested as often as the other tests..ca,mag,alk,ph etc. IMO hope it helps

I think the thought of becomming a whale is heavy on my head. I'm slowing the posts to remain a Shark. Ohhh #$%^ another post!
  20. Can you shine a flashlight in there and get a better pic?
  21. I do not have the time or patience to raise them. You are welcome to them if you want to raise them. I could call you the minute they are born, collect them and give them to you! There should be 400-600 this time. He is starting to have the same behavior today as he did before the last birth. His sack is so large that when he un-hitches, he will float upside down for several minutes until he grabs something with his tail. He is also slowly morphing between black and white. No violent contractions yet like last time, but I bet it happens before the weekend.
  22. Run the skimmer 1st and add a tee off your return to your fuge, then gravity feed your sump from fuge overflow back to collection point at skimmer.
