  1. Willamette Greystone #6 or #8 size is $8 for 100lb bag. Grab a couplle cups of live stuff frome those close by to you to seed it and wait for tjhe cycle. Nick @ rose city has several different grades of rock ie dry, base, live plain, live with sponge etc that looked great when I was there Wednesday. Garrett is in Salem and has 3 different varieties and is ordering some really cool dry stuff lately.
  2. Willamette Greystone..#8 or. #6 size sand 100 lb bags for $8. Seed it with some live stuff.
  3. Priceless! Even when you move a complete system that has the same sand, same rock, same livestock there may be a small cycle. When starting fresh, the system may go through 3 cycles of different algeas. Without seeing pic's, you may be going through a small cycle and are now "re growing" some yellow sponge? Best guess, chime in if I'm off path.
  4. Welcome! I have heard some larger LFS running only DI on larger volume systems. Best to check it and get TDS as low as you can.
  5. Its looking GREAT! You soooooo need that tank @ Nicks! If it doesn't work as a display, you could start teaching scuba in it. Mabey a pic of you and Brandon in it? Lol
  6. Shhhhhh....he is giving noobtosalt a frontal labotomy at his request. BAM you now have a scoly between your ears!
  7. My black and white ocellarus sleeps nestled in the partlially closed rbta. He acts like a dog when dreaming. Figits, moves, still, twitches, still. Kinda weird, but really looks like he is sleeping and chasing nems in an open field. My perc seems to nestle into thick stalks of pink zenia, not touching the rock, but rather held up by the stalks. Every few minutes,she/he seems to wake up,spins a lap around the zenia stalks then rustles back into it. Sometimes into the same spot, other times finding a couple different stalks.
  8. Welcome! Glad you kept the tank.
  9. My 90g fowlr with 45g sump/fuge I change 30g every week to week and a half. The water perams are always good, I just have A LOT of BIG fish and feed a bunch.

    Tell me NO!!!

Get another tank....duh...what if you fed it regularly and kept it trained to eat from one corner of the tank?
  11. Sorry to hear miles. Always glad to help if ya need it.
  12. I had no idea?!? When I'm ready I will have you get me one.....and a unicorn!
  13. If you call ahead, they will individually wrap and box each component of the burger...ie..patty,cheese,sauce,animal style onions, buns etc. So all you have to do is bring dry ice and some newspaper. My wife overnights it to me when she is home w/o me.
  14. If you ever miss that sweet connection, come on over, I have a bunch you can play with.
  15. I think his group buy thread is still going. He recently posted that he had enough to meet the suppliers minimum, but people could still get in.
  16. I also have a dual air pump/stone set up,heater, converter etc for road trips
  17. Must be a hippo tang thing....
  18. Just make sure you have someone stay at your house and you make a list for them. Its a huge relief having Sheena. We leave quite often, enough that I shouldn't be in the hobby and she has been geat. The first trip we lost 9 fish. Every day for 10 days it seemed to be the same conersation back home. Clay came to the rescue on that one. Always have a fish friend or two available when you leave and share the phone numbers with the house sitter!
  19. I hope its to buy a Harley (hehe) or a bigger tank!
  20. What brand skimmer and return pump?
  21. Welcome! Best way to do it, nothing happens fast in saltwater unless there is a problem and it happens really fast. You didn't mention the sizes on freshwwater tanks,if they are in the way you might look into the TFT or tanks for teachers programs. The kids would put them to good use, would clear the garage out quickly and put you on the salt program in a hurry!
  22. Exactly. Do you eat dinner with family or just randomly knock on doors at 6pm? There are many sponsors here, some post and contribute. Those are the ones that get my business. I will buy from other LFS,but only small amounts as a thank you for showing me their tanks and keeping the doors open. I suppose I would buy more if I was on a "how to keep up gross sales in a downward spiraling economy" forum and saw their screen names more often.
