  1. Very sorry to hear of your loss as well. Dove Lewis has been good to us as well. Also the Compasionate Care (in home) people are fantastic. Do their best to make for a respectful and peaceful process.
  2. Here is a pick of my setup with the same style sump (although reversed). Flow is drain on left which then flows to back chamber, across back and into large chamber at front with skimmer and return.
  3. Just in case you haven’t seen the thread, supporting members can arrange to borrow one of the clubs PAR meters. You just request to be put on the list in the booking thread.
  4. Thanks for the update Jim. Will be curious to see the numbers and hear from the vendors. Hopefully it worked out well for everyone.
  5. If you test fill I think you will see what I mean about the chamber levels. Good luck.
  6. Sorry - I was going to take a picture of my exact same sump for you and the return pump is in the same compartment as the skimmer - no problems with bubbles. Typically the drain line will be wider than the return to allow for sufficient flow with just the gravity feed. If I get a chance later I will try and send you a pic - just dealing with some family stuff right now.
  7. Sorry to hear about your loss. We just lost our “best cat ever” a short while back (see the RIP Bucket thread). They get a bad rap most of the time but you find the right one and they are something special.
  8. Some nice looking pieces in there. GLWS.
  9. Thanks to everyone for pulling together to put this on. So sorry that I was unable to stay and help as planned. Hope things worked out. Special thanks to Andy and Bert for stepping into the AV void in my unexpected absence. You guys are the best. Cody - sorry I was t there to help you out with the raffle - that can get crazy for sure. Congrats everyone!
  10. Those are pretty straight runs. Having had that same sump, the original layout had a filter sock holder in that back-left chamber. Looks like you may have reversed the flow with the return pump in that compartment (based on the tubing size)? That might cause you problems as, if I recall correctly, you would need to run a really high level in that large chamber where you skimmer is sitting to push any water to the “return”. This is likely to affect your skimmer function as well as limit your shutdown holding capacity in the sump - making it prone to an overflow if you return pump stops. If the intent was to return from the main chamber (where your skimmer is) you might want to consider changing up the two lines. You will generally want a larger diameter drain line that return line so as not to limit the overall flow. Sorry if I am off base here and misreading the arrangement.
  11. Sorry I missed this. If you wanted to hard plumb it you could easily swap out those bulkheads. I have used both flex and hard pluming alone and in combination and they both have their advantages. You typically can get higher flow by avoiding right angles that PVC sometimes requires but hard plumbing can be cleaner depending on the path you have to take. Really a matter of taste in my mind. I would recommend laying it out with your sump, filters and return pump in place and see what it would look like.
  12. Congrats Brian - I was wondering who won “my” Apex 😞 (my tickets would have been in that box if I had made it). Glad it went to a good home. Also kudos to Roy - we have a stand up group here for sure. Holly recently gave up a nice light she won when the first person who’s number was called happened to return to a meeting late. Great to see members looking out for each other.
  13. Well I actually missed it due to a family emergency so will need to wait for a report from the rest of the crew. Probably all busy clearing things up at this point.
  14. Hey Carla - sorry you didn’t make it to fragdest this year. Probably saved you a bit of coin though 😁. Maybe next year!
  15. That makes some sense given the torque - hadn’t considered that.
  16. Interesting. Not an insignificant amount of current - was that at full speed?
  17. Hey Jim - just a reminder to bring me a bag on Saturday. Thanks man!
  18. I am definitely not in this time around - still trying to detox the tank from a heavy metal poisoning so not about to stick a nice acro frag in there 🙁. I did see that colony at C&C today - super nice. Would make a good grow out option.
  19. A picture might help in understanding what you are asking here. Not sure if this is related to the RO/DI question, sump return or ?
  20. Sounds about right. I had that same wattage with radiums over a 120 - yeah, that would grow some coral.
