Used to use welding shops but typically aren’t open weekends and more expensive than the home brewing supply places in my experience.

Welcome to the forum Niki. Definitely full of advice and helpful people who I’m sure can get you headed in the right direction. Number one thing in my experience is patience - very few good things tend to happen fast in this hobby. That said, with some proper planning and and diligence it can be very rewarding. Goid luck!

Welcome Niki - I completely get the real book thing (still do most of my recreational reading that way). That said, I am not sure if the best ones to recommend for reef keeping - there are quite a few ranging from “how tos” to exhaustive coral and fish species studies (none of which I recall the names of at the moment). Hopefully one of or other well read members will chime in here!

So it looks like it's using 6 pressure wheels? Should be able to get some reasonably smooth flow I would think. Other tweaks to consider based on my memory of commercial units is having a groove in that top pressure cap to providing seating for the tubing. You could even have alternate caps for different gauge tubbing to accommodate different flow ranges. These are typically around half the depth of the tubing as I recall - which allows for 100 compression but helps support the tubbing more fully. At least that is my recollection... granted it's been a while. If I can find time at some point, I could try and dig some out of the basement at work and get some shots.

Hey Taylor, i take it starting up your own shop didn’t pan out... or are you just tired of mechanic work altogether? Hard to compete with what sounded like a dream job right out of the gate so I could see being ready for something new. Wish I had some great leads/suggestions for you - will definitely let you know if something comes up. Good luck!

BTW - the tubing we used to get often had “stops” welded into it to prevent the creep across the heads - definitely a specialized part.
