  1. Yeah - that position will definitely give you the best viewing angles even if is isn't the "cleanest" from a layout perspective. I could certainly see this being the preferred option to maximize your enjoyment of the tank. I will say, however, the whole thing makes me envious πŸ˜„
  2. Nice. What did the CO2 resistant tubing cost you?
  3. I don’t remember that but may have been during my hiatus. It does make some sense although could be controversial if not used responsibly.
  4. Hey Miles - are you talking about the "Rank" designation at the bottom of the profile screen shots you included? If yes, I think that is a purely driven off of the post count number. At some point in time, different "ranks" were given to different levels of post count and they automatically change whenever you cross the next threshold - honestly don't know who came up with the designations or thresholds (anyone know?). Emerald has her own "rank" as as top poster for being the most prolific member on the site! Jeremy or Jay might be able to see the configuration and give a listing of the rank titles.
  5. Well, at least I wasn't one of the 4 no shows πŸ˜ƒ Definitely think you are well within your rights to expect better communication and, while life can and does seem to wreck the best laid plans, I always try and let people know if I can't make an arranged meeting - as you say, common (or perhaps now uncommon) curtesy. Very disappointing to think at least two of those were potentially members treating another member here with such a lack of respect. On that note... what acro frags you got 😍
  6. So are you using this for screening hotel rooms when you are on the road or... Just curious. πŸ˜ƒ
  7. You realize you just jinxed yourself right? That is a pretty good run for sure.
  8. I liked that design - too bad it didn’t work out for you long term. GLWS.
  9. As much as I would like to talk some β€œboys” smack, they were worlds better than the *#^% show that was the Raiders this year. No end in sight either 😞
  10. Thanks for the update Daniel - exciting to see this turn into a finished product! Congrats on seeing all your hard design work come together. Maybe we could get a demo at one of the upcoming meetings? BTW - who’s feeding the triggers while you are in China?
  11. Looking good Brian! Nice selection of acros in there and I love the radiant wrasse!
  12. I can't exactly tell what is going on in the pics as I am not completely familiar with that skimmer or tank but, in general, I try to direct the effluent "down stream" of the skimmer intake just to reduce the chance of recycling the water (and theoretically increase efficiency). That said, a lot of skimmer designs don't readily accommodate that and you can't help but return to the same chamber you are drawing from. It may impact efficiency a bit but hopefully there is enough overall flow to limit any negative effect. If you can't redirect it to a downstream chamber, you could try and return the effluent as far away from the intake as possible within the same chamber to increase the likelihood of getting good mixing with "new" tank water.
  13. Yeah - that was why I asked πŸ˜„
  14. Jorge could probably do it by himself πŸ˜ƒ
  15. Nice setup! Do you have any idea what your rejection ratio (or gallons of waste per gallon of product) is like on that and what pressure (post boost) you are running at? Also curious what you are switching to given your mad SPS skilz.
  16. When it comes to fish disease/injury issues, I always defer to @IntoTheMystic who, literally, lives this stuff daily. Maybe he can take a look and weigh in? Holly @Gil&Fin has also done a lot of research for her QT work and often has good insight.
  17. Thanks for the link @SuncrestReef I haven't been paying much attention to this product since I don't currently have an Apex but another brand of controller so it was interesting to get some additional details re design. Things I like: Titration vs. colorimetric assays (speaks to my lab bench days) Simplification of reagents - 3 for 3 different assays is actually pretty impressive (would be interested in the chemistry of this) Relatively small volume required (although 25 mls total per test cycle still feels high considering stand alone tests) Potential for some fairly smart feedback integration for dosers (seems like they put some thought into the logic for this Logic based warnings for reagent use and waste fill up Don't like: Tied to a 4:2:2 test ratio (for very vague reasons) - just don't see that such frequent testing of Ca/Mg is necessary unless you are actively dialing in some dosing. Dependent on set length of tubing runs could limit placement (probably related to automation of line flushing etc.) Overall definitely worth a look and something I would certainly consider if I was running a dosing based setup and would still potentially be interested in regardless depending on price point (assuming I had an Apex)
  18. Or.... I could take them off your hands πŸ€— Actually, this would be it for me as well - no way I would try fragging acans without one.
  19. Haha - figures. Likewise here - they were the one thing that just didn't seem to care. No wonder their popular! Well, that and all the cool colors and fancy names and...
  20. Someone is volunteering themselves for a classification talk at an upcoming meeting πŸ˜„
  21. Quick update... Looks like one of our killer admins has found a location based member mapping app for our platform that may do a lot of what we want plus some other things. Stay tuned as this will require some discussion about how it could be incorporated if we go that direction - currently under discussion in the officer/board forum. Just to clarify, this is actually a plug in for the existing site... don't want to offend our tech guys by mischaracterizing it!
  22. Very kind offer - thanks Salted! I had been bringing a lot of frags to meetings early last year to give to a lot of new members because the tank (125) was getting overgrown. Let me tell you, a heavy metal contamination can stop that real quick. We actually tried to save the Del Fuego colony by taking over to PDXmonkeyboy's place (it was actually his) but it was too late and didn't survive a pretty aggressive dip/treatment (as we didn't know what the problem was at the time). To be fair, the Del Fuego was one of the last acros to go downhill - which supports the notion of it being generally hardy in tanks. Very nice coral in my opinion.
  23. Try heavy metals... I guarantee you can kill it 😞 Normally though, yeah it seemed to be a trooper and did really well in the tank for a long time. Definitely will look for another piece.
