  1. That is a nice looking lightening clown (I think). Congrats on a well deserved pic of the month W-T—F!
  2. Those hangers are a nice add to support your manifold - I will have to keep those in mind for future mods.
  3. Yeah - it was pretty painful and frustrating. We were trying to take care of a sick cat at the same time that was going on (we lost him). Definitely a bummer year. Fortunately the peeps here are always super helpful and generous so there is a silver lining of sorts.
  4. Thanks Randall. Was waiting for some of my baby coral frags to grow up but might break out the camera for some "before" shots.
  5. I remember checking this out at the last meeting out there. I thought it might be an octopus tank due to the carpet (hard to get suckers to stick to that I bet!). Home someone finds a good use for it.
  6. Updated fish stocking list (just because)... Purple tang (thanks Kim!) Blue Jaw trigger Eibills Angel Coral Beauty Angel Starry Blenny Male & Female Lyretail Anthias Marine Betta Green Coris Wrasse Melanarus Wrasse Possum Wrasse Blue Star Leopard Wrasse Orange Back Fairy Wrasse Yeah... I'm a little short on wrasses right now.
  7. Too bad you will miss it but I don't think you will garner too much sympathy given you will be in Paris with your wife - sounds like a fun trip!
  8. If that was the neon green with the pink and purple tips it is really impressive. I asked if he was planning to frag that up or not...
  9. Thanks! I'm not too worried as I tend to skim fairly dry anyway. The only time it's likely to come into play is if something goes wrong. In my testing, it looks like it would shut off about 2 inches from the top in it's current position - which is plenty for my usual output. Looks like your "probe" might be a slightly different design.
  10. Well... Long time since I updated this thread as life (and reef keeping) have been kind of getting the better of me over the last year. Had a massive crash which I wasn't able to sort out until I lost pretty much every coral in my tank with the exception of a psammacora, a couple of small lobos, a mushroom and my zoanthids. What were my acro, stylo, pocillopora, seriatapora montipora, acan, etc. colonies all ended up in the rubermaid bin on my porch so I could morn them whenever I went past... Ultimately appears to have been a chunk of mineral in my CA reactor dissolving metals into the tank but by the time I figured that out it was over 😂 After some Triton detox treatments and lots of water changes I have been slowly trying to restock. Also made a couple of tweaks to the system by adding a Titanium heater with integrated temp probe-style controller (also run through the system controller as backup), a "new" skimmer and a Avast skimmate locker. Picked up a used Aquamaxx ConeS Q3 on a great deal from CnC (thanks Jeff! @CuttleFishandCoral) which allows me to make better use of my limited skimmer compartment in my sump. Had been using a older Aquamaxx CO-2 which worked well but could never get completely buzz-free. My wife had to clean up a skimmer overflow the other week that overwhelmed my less than high-tech milk jug receptacle so I also snagged a Avast "Davey Jones" skimmate locker on an awesome deal from Terry at Seahorse @Seahorse Aquarium (thanks Terry and Tewsley!). I got those up and running yesterday and looking forward to no more messy overflows. The Avast unit has a really interesting level detector (pressure switch) which I really like the design of in case you have never seen one of these. There is no mechanical or optical switch on the unit itself but it uses air pressure in a "detector" tube connected to the control box/outlet switch by a section of airline. Seems to work great and reduce the chance of damaging a sensor. They also have versions that directly connect to controllers if you want to go that route. I am using the sensor controlled outlet as a primary shutoff but still running the whole circuit through my system controller so I can also shut off by the sump high level detector. Feeling much more secure now. No pics of coral yet as my recently added pieces (thanks Bert, Holly, Jeremy and Brian! @badxgillen @Gil&Fin @Jeremevans @pdxmonkeyboy) are still acclimating and recovering from some unexplained alk swings. May set up that spare Koralin CA reactor sooner rather than later...
  11. Wish I could help you out but that is one thing I don’t have in the basement 😄 Thought you had one already though?
  12. Welcome! Glad you found your way here. Looks like you have a great start on the new tank- I also have had a couple of 125s but not that particular dimension. Seems like a nice compromise between the 4 and 6 ft versions. Looking forward to seeing more.
  13. Looking forward to a trip down south to check out all the nice livestock and see the progress on the display tanks. Haven’t been in since our last meeting there. Should be fun!
  14. Good to know that actually worked! Is it still on there 😃
  15. A new member of the family on the way - how exciting! Guess I will have to bring more snacks with me next time I come by 😃
  16. Wish I had seen this before stopping in at CnC today... Jeff just loves getting teased about this kind of stuff 🤗
  17. Nice choices. I miss my Hawkins and Bannana Lokani- got them from Holly but she doesn’t have them anymore 😢
  18. I checked out one of the smaller water box tanks at Paradise during the meeting there and really like some of the design aspects. The split return, socks in the back chamber/overflow vs sump. standard plumbing.vs metric. Overall a nice little package.
  19. Fantastic write up yet again Bert! We are so lucky to have you document all of these meetings for us - I look forward to the recaps almost as much as the meetings 👍 Definitely an awesome meeting and a pleasure to have Bret and Naomi host the club at their wonderful shop. Have been hoping to get out there ever since it opened and proved to be well worth the trip. Great to see so many of the club make it out for the informative talk (thanks What the Frag!) and general reef banter.
  20. I can move it to the general classifieds if you would like - might be more easily seen once it drops off the main page. Just let me know. Thanks.
  21. Just checking to see if the intent was to give these away in support of the Tanks for Teachers program (hence TFT Classifieds). If so, our TFT coordinator @Flashy Fins would probably have a good idea if there were good options currently available to rehome the livestock amongst the classroom tanks.
  22. That is exciting news! I am curious to learn more about how this has been used/proven useful in the reefkeeping arena. Welcome Aquabiomics!
  23. Looks like he is playing a game of tag or something. Have to admit I haven't seen that behavior in my tank before but it's been a while since I had a bristle tooth tang in there.
  24. Hey Holly - I heard somewhere you were going to give this clownfish thing a try - might want to get ready! @Gil&Fin
  25. Haha... late to the game Cody! I am curious though as to whether anyone still is growing these locally.
