  1. Hey all, I am wondering if anyone has a box of old Tunze parts lying around. I currently run some old x-wave power heads which I like a lot and are basically a copy of the Tunze 6100 and am contemplating trying to resurrect some of the 6100s to play with. Turns out that while the pump design is very similar, the mounts, power supplies etc. aren't compatible (pesky patens I'm guessing). Anyway - if anybody has some give me a shout. Why you might reasonably ask? 1) I hate perfectly good old gear going to waste 2) the 7095 controller has adjustment knobs! C'mon, who doesn't like some knobs in this era of touch screens? 3) I'm weird that way... Thanks!
  2. Hahaha! Well, just as a teaser, we will be having our August meeting at SuncrestReef's abode so everyone will get a chance to check out the killer system, hear about the automation, and get crotch sniffs!
  3. This is pretty solid advice right here.
  4. Might not be a bad idea honestly - seems like it's getting really hard to find.
  5. Sounds like you are getting close! Can't wait to see the new setup in all it's glory.
  6. Those are pretty nice I have to say...
  7. Hey - that's my sump! Well, only reversed flow. Can't remember who used to make these but seems like there are still a few out there in service.
  8. Hey Ron - what are you asking for the lights? I remember you being really excited to get those at one point.
  9. Ouch. This is why I only use heaters with a thermostat or built in controller and the tank controller as the failsafe. I know it doesn't help now and, no matter what, it's basically impossible to make these systems completely "human" proof. At least you have lots of good company on this one. Best of luck with the reboot.
  10. Sounds great Calvin - should I PM you to work out the timing?
  11. Oh no! So sorry to hear this. Even when you think you have everything covered and failsafes in place things like this can smack you down. I hope you are able to bounce back quickly but I know it is really rough having to start over.
  12. Ha! Nailed it - what do I win? 😄 BTW - I should have known you would have a detailed floor plan on hand to illustrate the situation... you set a high bar my friend!
  13. Good catch! My guess is that it's easier to get to the left to clean it due to the tank location. Someone has some explaining to do 😀
  14. That would be great! Sadly, my tank is still trying to recover from last year's crash so not sure there is anything worth fragging but would be happy to toss you some cash if I can't find something you need. BTW - do you still have those MH reflectors? I got busy and never followed through on those. Nice score with the MRC. I had eyed one of their units previously but didn't know Ron had one available.
  15. Thanks for the info! I am running that same reactor currently and like the design. Yours appears to have the pH probe holder which is nice as they don't all have one. I wouldn't mind trying to resurrect the regulator if you end up parting it out. What dual chamber did you get? I've seen a few nice large units on here the last few months so hopefully you scored one of those.
  16. Bummer about the regulator - that would make a nice setup. Have any idea what's wrong with it?
  17. Hahaha - good luck with that! I will say, however, that you have been off to a prodigious start! Tank looks great - really impressive for a year in as a newbie... shows how much time, thought and energy you have put into it. Congrats and happy anniversary!
  18. I didn't get a chance to read through this originally but it is pretty interesting... especially since the concept should work and, frankly, not be overly complicated to implement. Wonder if they just have an issue stabilizing the bacteria (assuming there were some there to start with).
  19. This is one reason I tend to prefer titration tests but, obviously, this is an even better approach and once you have set up the curves it's pretty straight forward - assuming you have a spec of course 😀
  20. Looking forward to this! Didn't get my reef fix last month as I wasn't able to make it to HMSS so can't wait to head to WIlsonville in a couple weeks to catch up.
  21. Yep - missed us by two blocks. Also only one block away from the intersection with the giant water main break a while back. Rough times in neighborhood!
  22. This is a sharp and practical looking sump for sure. Nice choice Andrew - can't wait to see the whole system up and running!
  23. Man... people have been bringing the fire with these chalice pics!
