  1. Well, I will say that you don’t do anything half way. How long ago was it that I had to house your first frag because you didn’t even have a tank set up? Just seems like yesterday... 😀
  2. Ok - I have to say there is a wee bit of irony in that he tried to convince you it was a bad idea using graphs. Does he know who he is talking to? Seriously though, who ever thought this hobby would be a good financial decision? That said, I haven’t yet got to the point of building an addition or buying $2600 worth of acrylic. There is still time though 🙃
  3. Just want to give a shout out to everyone that braved the sketchy weather to join us at Seahorse for the meeting yesterday. Despite the damp, I think we all had a good time and Terry and Tewsley were wonderful hosts. Christian from Moloko's also chipped in a very nice selection of beverages to keep the vibe going. Hopefully no one got too roughed up by the inflatable dancing tube man... he got a bit out of control when wet 🤗 I saw quite a few new faces, which is always fun. Bert made it up from Salem with his leg scooter to join us and bring along some awesome frag packs for the raffle - thanks man! It was great to see the pres up and around after a rough go of things lately. Thanks Seahorse! Hopefully we can do another meeting there in the future...
  4. Would be great to see you Bert - hope you can make it. We will save some pizza for you. 😄
  5. Pizza is ordered so make sure you stop by tomorrow for bite to eat while you shop and talk some reef keeping.
  6. I want to see how fast that Trident disappears...
  7. Welcome aboard Raj! Glad you found the info on here helpful to you and grateful that you decided to become a member. As others have mentioned, there are a lot of great community activities to take part in (monthly meeting this Sunday at Seahorse Aquarium Supply for instance) and opportunities to indulge your coral fixation (FragFest NW Oct. 5th) so hopefully we will see you at an event in the future.
  8. That first batch are looking pretty cute at this point. Like the misbar...
  9. Some nice looking acans in there! Will have to try and find time for a trip over to the west side...
  10. We actually maxed out the space with vendors this year so there should be something on hand for every taste in coral - or even some new killer lights if you visit ReeFi at the show. Many vendors from outside the PDX area as well so great opportunity to see some livestock that you wouldn't normally get to see. Hope you can make it there and help support the Tanks for Teachers program while you shop!
  11. Happy B-day man! Hope you are feeling better and are able to enjoy the day. Thanks for everything you do for this community... we are very lucky to have you on board.
  12. Wow... awesome collection Daniel. I want that multitone orange hammer BTW 😄
  13. Sorry to hear John. Wish I could help you out but, as you know, not one of the 4 current owners. Good luck!
  14. I spoke with Terry and he said he was planning to do a promotion at the meeting - $10 off on a purchase of $20 or more for club members! All the more reason to swing by and check it out. We plan to have some canopies up in the parking area in front of the shop to give us some extra room for food, mingling etcetera even if the weather doesn't cooperate. I also heard that Christian (of Moloko fame) might be contributing some beverages to the event (got you covered there @spectra) so hope to see you there this coming Sunday.
  15. That is sad news. Thanks for letting us know Kim.
  16. This is a great idea for those with DIY hanging projects!
  17. Lots of good points being made. I do think the use of ozone in home reef systems has become less common for a couple of reasons including the overall safety question as well as the challenge of proper dosing control. Ozone is highly reactive and indiscriminate so you can definitely over do it to serious I’ll effects. Also, many of the benefits can be replicated by the use of UV - which is far easier to control. I wouldn’t say I would never try it again under the right circumstances but i would put a lot of thought into how to safely do so. Basically would not recommend unless you thoroughly studied the subject. There are some good articles out there along with discussions of ORP and the many complicated factors that play into that which would be worth tracking down if you are seriously considering. Just my 2 cents.
  18. If you go to the "Members Map" tab on the home page, you can see locations for all the local fish stores in the area. Definitely worth a visit to CnC and Paradise if you can swing it.
  19. Great write up John - thank you for taking the time to do this and also being such a gracious host for the event! Everyone seemed to have a great time and there was lots of good food, conversation and reefing expertise to be had. Also a big thank you to Brandon @lewisriverfisherman for taking over the photo documentation from our injured compatriot @badxgillen.
  20. I don't run Ozone currently but did for a while on my old tank. Ran outlet into skimmer air intake and monitored via the overall tank redox potential. My Ozone unit had the redox reader incorporated into it. Not sure that helps...
  21. That is a handsome couple right there! Good luck raising some babies!
  22. Dang... makes me wish I had a tank project going to use this on! Very nice. GLWS.
  23. Hey Alex - glad the tank is doing well. I have some grape Monti cap and some green psammacora that you could have pieces of if you want. Nothing too exciting but it survived my metal contamination last year so you know it's tough!
