  1. Saw one at TPA during the meeting last month... not sure if they are interested in selling it. It was in one of the small display tanks on the front counter.
  2. Exciting! Are you planning any new profiles or sticking with the round pendant's only? Would love to see some different shaped arrays for more coverage options (although that can obviously get tricky).
  3. Cool find. Thanks Greg and Brian! @youcallmenny @Brian Tesch
  4. Well at least she was there to save it. Crazy timing though!
  5. So are all the cichlids from the previous tanks in the 240? That must be fun!
  6. Does it count if they are floating in cocktail sauce? Asking for a friend...
  7. Hi Brandon - short answer, the probe on the USB model is the newer, full spectrum, version which is supposed to have a more even response curve that could provide some additional accuracy for our lighting systems. I don't think anyone has done a direct side-by-side comparison on the two units with any of our own lighting setups to confirm this however (thought about it) so it's unclear how large of an effect it might have. You are also correct in that the USB model requires you to download an application (see original post for some details) onto your computer (limited Mac support) in order to utilize it. As long as you have a supported OS, it is pretty straighforward but it does require that extra step (and a computer). The hand-held is the older probe but it is an all-in-one solution - just don't drop it in your tank! Hope this helps.
  8. I'm going to remember you said that Kidding aside, it would be great to see you there Jeff - I know you don't often get a chance to mingle with the club outside of the store.
  9. Well... didn’t you say she was pretty tolerant of your hobby? This would be a good test of that concept 😄
  10. Yay! Meeting at Holly’s place! Looking forward to hearing Bert’s wisedom on hitchhikers (of the marine variety).
  11. Quite an interesting arc! If I’m not mistaken, you also successfully kept poison dart frogs until recently. I thought of this due to another forum member posting about his new additions earlier today.
  12. Looking good! I see a few of the anthias survived anyway
  13. According to this http://www.understoryenterprises.com/toxicity-of-poison-dart-frogs - no. Sounds like other than the hassle of keeping live food they are pretty neat pets. Pets on Broadway here in PDX generally has them available - have seen and admired them there often.
  14. Cool! There was someone on the forum who had several different types of poison dart frogs but can't recall their handle. They sold them off so may have been moving. If I recall correctly, they indicated that one of the keys was keeping live drosophila (fruit flies) in supply for their food.
  15. Isn't that a critical part of the tidepool ambiance? Kidding aside, that is a valid point to consider.
  16. Surprised this is still available. Was there a price on this that disappeared in the recent edit?
  17. Hmm. Interesting idea. My first thought is that you will need a really big sump to handle the change in volume in the DT. I'm guessing the low drain would need to be gated down significantly so that the "high" return pump would be able to easily overcome that to raise the tank level up to the top drain. Seems like it could work in theory... might take some delicate dialing in.
  18. Thanks for the additional info Cherany. Will be great to have someone in the club see it. Maybe we can talk you into giving us some highlights? ( in small text of course 😁).
  19. I hate to say it but you are probably correct.
  20. Very cool! The adaptations involved in survival in such extreme micro environments are pretty fascinating.
  21. Switching it up on us already eh? Looking good!
  22. Thanks for adding your pics Cherany. Glad to see Bert actually get to show off his tie dye! Still can't compete for overall color impact though
