  1. Send me a PM a few days before you head up. I am looking for a new CO2 tank and regulator and have some nice sps corals I could take some frags of for you. I have: Bright pink stilo, Green with blue rim cap, possibly a frag of Idaho grape montipora, possibly pokerstar montipora, really cool yellow digitata, blue tipped acropora stag, peach plating acro, green with orange shimmer millipora, and a few frags of softies or lps if you are interested. All the pieces will be 1"+ frags Thanks, Garrett
  2. Also look into feeding garlic in with your food as a suppliment. It does wonders from what I hear.
  3. That freakin rocks man! Congrats and hopefully you have a pretty good servival ratio. Snap some pics when possible! Garrett
  4. Looks like yellow polyps to me. They seem to be either feeding or closing up for soem other reason. Nice pics! Garrett
  5. Is there anyway you could snap a few pictures of the fish so that I know what I am getting myself into? Thanks, Garrett
  6. Nyles, Are you going to be coming up to Salem anytime in the near future? If you are, we might be able to work something out. Let me know, Garrett
  7. I was using a 75g all glass tank that was previously a copper treated tank that I had cleaned very well as a refugium attached to my main system. I had no problems what so ever and as a matter of fact had thousands of invertibrates and corals in the system. I wouldn't recommend using any of the components and the tank was glass, so I cannot say the same about acrylic tanks but for me there was no problems. Garrett
  8. I know you know your stuff and I really hate questioning anyone, but are you sure thas a condilactus? I didn't think that percs/false percs hosted in them. I could be wrong but thats what I have gathered. Also I know that they can look alot like long tenticle anemonies. Of course if its on a rock that would be out as they are sand footers. If it is a condilactus, that is freakin awesome. Garrett
  9. I know it sounds a bit gross to do for some, but if you keep 5 or 6 chocolate chip starfish in your refugium and just cut a leg off of one every 3-5 days to feed the harlequin shrimp, you should be able to alternate between the starfish and will not run out of food for quite a long time. Or you could get a seperate tank and raise chocolate chip starfish simply for feeding your shrimp. Garrett
  10. The t-5 halide argument could go on for days, but IMO there really is no way to get the kind of pop that I desire out of t-5's. I have used both in many configurations, and really the only thing that does it for me is MH's. I really didn't notice too much of a difference in my electrical bill and my corals just seem to look tons better. As far as growth goes, I have heard from many people that both will do very well if done correctly and I have seen the success of both. Still for me, its all about the halides. If I didn't have a choice, I would of course use t-5's, but if the choice was mine to make, halides would be the only way for me to go. This of course is assuming that your tank temperature is not an issue and you can afford the chiller or a/c to help when we have hot times of the year. I also have found that it is much less expensive to replace a few metal halide bulbs then it is to replace a dozen or more t-5's. Garrett
  11. Funny thing you mention Oasis. I was on a business trip to Bend a couple of weekends back and decided to stop by. Good to see a Central Oregon reef shop. Didn't even know they existed til I was flipping throught he phone book exploring. I picked up a couple of nice pieces while I was there. One is an ORA green pocillipora and the other was a couple of heads of the brightest nuclear green candy canes my eyes have ever seen. Garrett
  12. Sounds great! I will have to stop by just to check it out. Jason has been an extreme help in all of my saltwater ventures and has become a good friend. I must be in his shop every other day or so. If you need a home for the linkia let me know. I have a 210 reef tank and 7 other tanks full of life and am pretty sure I could find lots of it to eat I have had really good luck with orange linkia stars in the past, and have kept them for around a year or just over that each. It seems that all linkias are simply not suited for our tanks and as jmanrow was saying, we really dont know what to feed them. I have had a pretty good outbreak of sponge, so if that is what they eat, as many researchers have suggested, I may have a good setup for them now. Get some picutures up asap. I want to see this beauty in all of its glory! Garrett
  13. Simply amazing set up. I know who to contact next time I need a stand built thats for sure
  14. Hello all! I have up for grabs an Icecap 660 electronic ballast. It needs a new wireing harness which can be purchased online for about $30. It runs great! I have used it to run 4x4' VHO's before on one of my tanks and I have used it on another tank to run 2x6' VHO's. There are many configurations that you can choose to set it up in. The reason it needs a new wireing harness is because the wires to the old one are kind of brittle and have several extensions spliced in. The unit is just under 2 years old and I have had no problems with it. I have the aluminum heat shield that came with it as well. I think $90 is a fair price or $100 with the 4 endcaps. I have a small protein skimmer that I know very little about. It is a recirculating skimmer that has a rio 800 for its recirc. It is 19.5" tall with a 3 inch diameter chamber. It has a 4" x 7" footprint. I would say this would be a good skimmer for up to a 60 gallon tank. I have never used it though it was used by a friend for about a year so I have no idea of how well it functions. The collection cup has a crack on the top that extends downward but in no way effects the function of the skimmer. I would like to get $40 out of it but make an offer if you want. Thanks, Garrett
  15. I hate it when that happens. I have a rock with 4 different caps and a plating acro on one edge. Funny thing is, they all seemed to grow towards one another first before they started to grow away from the rock. Nice looking stuff! I really like that before and after on the anthias!
  16. Sumps in the garage work quite well!
  17. I am sad to say that I doubt this is the only loss of live rock and corals that we will see imported into the US. I really love Tongan corals and rock too. Thanks for the pos though. It is good information. Garrett
  18. Anytime. Oh and the frags you brought me are rockin! Very nice stuff! Thank you! Garrett
  19. Agreed! If I had the coin, I would buy it and keep it for later use. Great deal on that tank! Garrett
  20. I have a 250w Metal Halide PFO setup that I have been meaning to list. It comes with a PFO ballast, PFO mogul, 20k MH bulb with only 1 week of use on it. You will need to buy a single bat wing reflector or similar, but everything else is plug and play. I think I paid roughly $300 for the setup, but am will to take $120 as I am keeping the reflector. Let me know if this is what you are looking for, Garrett
  21. I would love all of it if possible. How much do you have? Thanks, Garrett
