  1. Hot stuff! If you ever want to do some trading, you know where to go Looking great. I love the pheonix 14k's! Those and the Ushio 20k's are my new 250w de choices. They both look so similar just a bit more blue on the 20k's with actinic supplementation though not as much as I would have expected. Garrett
  2. Chris, Take them. I can't make it up til tomorrow afternoon and that is just too long for them to be in their bucket. Garrett
  3. You all have some really nice taste I will post a few of my new aquisitions here in the next few days. Got a grip of acans, a couple of chalices, and a scoly to post up. These dang lps are starting to grow on me though I am not sure they will ever replace my love for colored sticks and zoas/palys but who knows? Garrett
  4. In my experience 150w-175w also fit in standard moguls. I had a few PFO 175w ballasts that I used the same reflecors and and moguls on that I had running on 400w ballasts just before. I know that DE are defiantely much smaller for the 150/175w but the SE moguls should be the same. Garrett
  5. Brandon, How long have you had them? Are they in medicated or copper treated water now or are they in normal salinity reef tank water? I would be interested if they have been around for a while. I am finding it hard to find a good healthy pair of clowns that I like these days. Garrett
  6. Mike, If you need to bring some things over to my system until your system is ready again please feel free to do so. I have pleanty of room and everything is doing great! The temperature of my system stays constant at 78 degrees and that is in 100+ degree heat. I just don't want you to consider getting out of the hobby if you can at all mangae it. Garrett
  7. Sorry to hear that Clay. If you really want to make sure that things stay where they need to be as far as temperature goes, I would definately get a chiller. I know it is expensive at first but just think of how much you could loose in live stock. Seems like you might have to spend more on replacing livestock then to just buy a chiller. Plus easing your mind is worth every penny in and of itself. My system is about 500g. It is in my parents garage, so it is exposed to whatever temperature the garage is. It is usually about 5 degrees cooler in the summer than outside and about 5 degrees warmer in the winter. I went by today to check on things though I wasn't too worried about thing. I run a 1hp chiller on the system and two 800w titanium heaters. All are regulated by a Medusa temperature controller. My temperature stays between 78 and 79 degrees all of the time. The only time it ever changes is if I add too cold or to warm of water to the sump where the temperature probe is, so really never changes the system at all. It sure is a godsend and though it cost a few Benjamins, it was one of the best investments I have ever made. My chiller is on about half the time on 100 degree days. My heaters are on for short amounts of time in the winter and when below freezing outside they sometimes run all of the time but keep things at a perfect 78-79 degrees. Through the years I have learned that temperature control is perhaps the number one thing that we can control that helps to keep our reefs alive. Good water quality is a must but if you can't keep the temperature in line you will loose corals, fish, and inverts far faster than anything else. Garrett
  8. They defiantley will eat algae alot but in my experience, bristletooths are harder workers consistantly. Garrett
  9. Small purple tang gets my vote. A bit expensive but they are great looking and have always been one of my faves. If you are going for algae eating mainly then I would go with a bristletooth though both will do well. Garrett
  10. Very nice tank! I was thinking of an elos 3 sided viewing for the apartment. Great stuff and I love the aquascaping. Garrett
  11. I think I see a future upgrade coming The tank is looking nice and I like your choice of corals. I would defiantley stick some corals around the kings thrown. It would look so cool! Definately see a 100gish tank coming soon. Garrett
  12. I am with you Clay. I find every coral I see to be extremely interesting. Even brown turd corals like button polyps or aiptasia are interesting in their own right. Goniopora are a bit harder to keep than some of the other LPS out there. Make sure that you feed regularly and proved it with moderate light and flow. I have had them many times and have had really good luck when I feed them every couple of days. Green and yellow seem to be harder to keep from what I have observed. Reds, pinks, and even purples or maroons have been a bit easier. Alveopora are also very similar and should be treated the same in regard to regular feeding and moderate light and flow. Garrett
  13. They are stunning in pictures aswell! Amazing pieces for sure. I don't think I have seen either before. Garrett
  14. Amazing to see how your build has progressed. I think the addition of the refugium is going to help your tank really kick some butt. Your lighting configuration should be excellent for almost any corals health, growth, and color. Garrett
  15. Bulkheads not included. Just the tanks. $25 for all 9 tanks! Come get em! Garrett
  16. Not all brittle stars will eat your healthy fish! This is a real common misconception and is a result mainly do to the large green and yellow brittle stars. Smaller black, red, brown, banded, and many others are great members of your clean up crew and will only eat fish that are near death or are dead already. When the body of the brittle is larger than the smaller fish in your tank, in general it is time to find the brittle a new home. Also, they do really well with other brittle and serpent stars. Garrett
  17. Great looking stuff! Large pieces that are nice and porus. Thanks Brandon for the trade! Hope all the frags do well for you. Garrett
  18. Thanks guys! Yah things are doing pretty well with the setup. I like it now better than ever and can only imagine how much I will like it as time goes on. Small update: I added about 40 or so various colored damsels and 20 or so blue/green chromis. I am sure about a third to half will end up kicking the bucket before the 3 month mark but they look pretty sweet in the system. Also got a really nice purple tang that I will be adding to the display once I make sure it does well in quarantine. Added another 150lbs of rock to the mix aswell(thanks Brandon for the majority of it!). Garrett
  19. Here is someone looking for a similar setup. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1671323
  20. That is some crazy monkey style there. I like it! He climbs up those people like they are trees and then bring them down like a lumberjack.
  21. SOLD Hello all! I have 9x 10g tanks that are drilled and ready to go. They are in great condition and were only used to house macro algaes and a few inverts over the last few months. I switched to larger acrylics and won't be needing these guys anymore. Price is $7 each or $25 takes them all. Also willing to trade for live rock, reef safe healthy fish, or corals. These make a great frag, fish, algae, or invert setup. Some pics of what they look like when setup: I also have 1x 10g tank that has a crack right above the drilled hole but with a bulkhead in it, it works great because the crack is way above the water line. And a 20g long with the same situation. Both are free to whomever wants to drop by and grab them. They will be going to recycling this week if no one wants them.
