  1. I have shot with both and by no means am I an expert. I just like the feel of my Nikon in my hands. I think they are both awesome and I think that the deal at Costco seems reall reasonable. I have both of those lenses and they are pretty much all I ever used. I would also look into getting a nice macro lens since you will probably want to take some decent pics of the tanks. Franklin is pretty much dead on. It really doesn't matter which you get, so maybe try and get the best bang for the buck. I would also be cautious when it comes to purchaseing kits on Craigslist. The inner workings of both the lenses and camera bodies could be messed up or the number of pics that the body has taken could be incredibly high which means the inner workings are well used. I had a friend buy a really nice camera on ebay only to find out that the shutter was very worn and a few other internals needed servicing. By the time he was done with that he had a nice used camera for the price of a new one.
  2. Looks great mang!! Always cool to get some unique critters and awesome corals to add to the tank
  3. This is so sad and messed up. I am bumbed hard core. I found out about this because of this thread and now and watching the numerous news and video reports. Very very sad stuff. Japan and surrounding countries are in our prayers.
  4. Thanks a bunch for stopping by Jason! Always great having you by the shop and chatting reef. I am suprised you were able to sneak all of those critters past the wife lol. I get away with it all the time but I have alot of hiding places I agree, the Potters Angels are exceptional! Thanks!
  5. Thanks for taking some pics are posting them up Josh! I appreciate it mang! 50 new SPS colonies just in and they are some of the nicest I have seen. These are Maricultured for the best colors, hardiness, and variety. Priceing will be very good and there will be so many choices available that you will wish you could upgrade your tank just to fit them all in it Also just got the nicest pair of Hawaiian FLAME wrasses in! Price is unbelievable on the pair. Also got in some super great looking Hawaiian Potters Wrasses, Potter Angels, and Flame Angels as well as tiger tail cucumbers and a few other nice inverts and fish. Come check the tanks out!!
  6. There is a nice PFO MH and CF hood with ballasts forsale in the classifieds. It's a real nice fixture and would be great for growing just about anything. Scott is the guys name and his user name here is Toyo something or other. Good price too.
  7. My pleasure and thank you for grabbing some! Always good to ship up to you
  8. I could but those are my favorites
  9. I would use a plasma torch or a high end laser I like the idea of a dremel with the router attachment and blade with a plastic bag dam to catch the shavings
  10. There are soooooo many great options. I love the midas, tailspot, tribal, twin spot, bicolor, Hawaiian marbled, red spotted rock skipper, canary, starry, and of course the classic lawnmower/algae blenny.
  11. The spot is still there but it seems to be doing real well. So weird.
  12. +2 Just make sure that you use a decent layer of teflon tape. Threaded can be a nightmare if they are not tefloned and tightly secured. Also don't over tighten as it can break the plastic. It's really easy to do lol.
  13. I have kept one alive for over a year in my previous reef. It readily ate cyclopeeze as well as smaller pieces of mysis. I have had decent luck with the standard cleaner wrasse as well. I dont' think these fish are for everyone by any means but I will say that they are definately able to be kept if done correctly. It also helps that the one I had was quite a pig and only took a few days to really start eating. I soak my foods in garlic gaurd and I fed it once a day, not the 4-5 times that they should be fed but it was fat and healthy. I agree with Robert on this one folks. You have to get educated about what you are thinking of purchasing and if it's an inpulse buy then do what you can to make it work. On an opposite note, I have purchased so many fish on impulse and some end up being the best purchases I have made. Not saying this is at all the best way to go about things but I have had some great fish that I would never have touched had I read what the internet says about them previous to buying them.
  14. I will be. I should have a couple coming in this thursday, so I will hold you one. Toss me a text or pm with a time you are thinking and I will mark it in the planner and make sure and be here Thanks!!
  15. Inbox cleared... Jason, I should be available pretty much anytime after 3 and before 6pm. Whatever works for you I have a shipment coming in that day so it may be a bit crazy and I may have to stay open a bit later anyway.
  16. My inbox seems to be full so I will clear it out in the morning when I have a chance to get on the computer. Sorry for the inconvenience guys
  17. I have Mexican Turbos, Zebra Turbos, Red Banded Trochus, Margarita Turbos, Astrea Turbos, Nerites, 3 varieties of Nassarius, and 2 varieties of Cerith. I think the Mexican Turbos, Zebra Turbos, Red Banded Trochus and the Margairtas would probably be the best bet to try for red turf. The Margaritas can have a bit shorter lifespan but these guys seem to be doing pretty well for me. Let me know if I can help with anything I also have a couple pin cushion and longspine urchins that might go for it as well as several variety of hermits and other algae eating crabs.
