  1. If Mark runs out I also have GSP and Xenia that I will give away. I'm also in Beaverton, kinda close to mark IIRC. If no one wants it I will just continue to throw it away every month, like I normally do.
  2. I have some bulbs that go with it, don't remember how old they are, they are 36" though.
  3. I have a dual 96w CF ballast with plugs. It's your if you want it. I'll trade for a beer.
  4. Dude I didn't know you were from Utah. Were you part of Utah Reef's? So what brought you to Corvallis? Tanks look good. I know how hard the move is. I moved up here from Southern California a few years back. Not fun. Love the Banggia. Some nice zoa's too. I got some stuff to trade you for frags of those when your ready (naughty)
  5. Let me know if you get there and we can karaoke Bett Midler hits and talk about seahorses and algae;). Seahorses are kinda my thing. The pic above is my horse tank. I'd look at a fake seagrass like prolifera (right corner pic) if your not into DSB's. F2= fertilizer
  6. I think the nutrients went into the tank with the food i was putting in there I have used fertilizer as well (even did the blue Miracle grow stuff back in 01' when it was popular) for a few applications but honestly I find the best fertilizer to be pure unscented ammonia. What kind of F2 have you had succsess with? Right now I am having trouble keeping phosphates present in my algae tank, time to start supplementing. Compared to other algaes specifically for nutrient uptake mangroves grow slow IME. It's not that I don't think they are cool, it's just compared to something like taxifloria which can grow from a centimeter to a few feet in a day, mangroves are quite slow. I am in the huge minority of those that appreciate algae. Here's a shot from a couple months ago of my algae's now . I keep it pruined back like that. Ship out algae once a month or so to help supplement my addiction, I mean tanks. Anyways even when keeping an algae tank you want to have some limiting factor that is under control to keep the nuisance algaes at bay. Carbon dosing is a good way to keep nitrates at zero IME, I'm sure there are others as well, carbon dosing is just easy for me.
  7. Andy that skimmate is so sexy. It could be skimmate of the month. rofl (Sorry Bob started the playboy thing I'm just pushing it to all new boundaries) I'm a fan of macro's too, but macro is a bit more complicated. Suppose you have zero phosphates and 100ppm of nitrate, your macro still won't grow. Doesn't help to remove the nitrate at that point. Mangroves grow so painfully slow they are nothing but decorations IMHO. I have had tanks with large amounts of algae and still nitrate problems. JME Here is a shot of one of my old tanks, nitrates would not go below 40ppm, ever. There was a 20g sump filled with cheato on this thing too.
  8. Naw my phone is old school. You can email them to me at kevin@seahorse.org if that is easier then posting. I'm up in Beaverton so to come get the tank is about a 5 hour trip. Sorry but not willing to make it without seeing some good pics of what shape the tank, stand, and canopy are in. If your not able to do that then I think Madreefer wants the tank too. No hard feeling either way.
  9. Now that is what I am talking about. I have used cheap reflectors in the past. The output of the light is significantly affected, even when using the same bulbs, the difference in output was amazing. Easily twice as much, some of my corals even had some issues when I upgraded from the Nova fixture. The Teks put out a lot of light. More then any other I have seen. I have dealt with arcing on a cheap fixture, also dealt with endcaps that cracked the first time I changed the bulb. The arcing was scary, the broken endcaps were just annoying. Luckily the fixture just burnt out from the arcing and didn't start a fire. Your warrant policy is one of the reasons I went with your product. JMO
  10. I'll wait to see the pics before I commit. I can get the tank drilled by Joel up here too, so no biggie.
  11. Can I get a pic of the 29g that is for sale. How tall is the canopy? Glass or acrylic? Drilled?
  12. I was just talking about going back to school to afford a better tank, I mean lifestyle (I mean tank).
  13. Sounds like you owe Andy another dollar. I have had events of massive esplosions of stomella's too, but they all died back in time to a reasonable amount. Same thing with fan worms. JME
  14. Your probably all good then. I'm sure you would have been fine if you had not just jinxed yourself.
  15. I don't mean to be a jerk, but what is the difference? Generic ballast? That doesn't mean much to me in terms of quality. I don't know the difference. Garbage bulbs? It doesn't come with bulbs, you can use any bulb you want. The bulbs are an add on. I'm in the market for a new light right now. Tell me why I should pay triple the price for a Tek. I feel for where your coming from, but if someone has made a widget for a third of the cost, then there widget is going to sell better then your widget. I respect that people you are close to rely on your product to survive. I rely on the sales of my product to survive, and the money I take in to survive. So what is so much better about the Tek that it's worth the extra cash for me to spend? It's not $50, it's a couple hundred. Again I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I have a Tek on my reef, have loved it. Just want to know what the difference really is. You have one, I don't. Honestly if there is not a better arguement then it's generic as to why I should pay triple the price, I'll be able to tell you the difference soon.
  16. I've had snails spawn several times. Never got any growth out of anything but stomella's. Never had clams spawn for me. Personally I would run my test kits to make sure everything is kosher, sometimes things spawn as a matter of preservation. If everything is good you got free coral food. I'd pay extra attention fora week or so IMHO. JMO
  17. What is the resolution on the monitor? Would you sell it seperate? Is it just a swivel bracket on the back? Is the swivel auto detect? Plasma or LCD?
  18. Damm those are nice! Great trade Frank. Hey you get your frag tank up yet?
  19. That's a real place. To many painful memories to watch the whole thing.
  20. Wow that's a lot of beer, what did you need the magazine for? I kinda like Coral Magazine myself. (whistle) ;) :D:D:D:D
  21. I just picked up the leg lamp at the Rite Aid by my house, it's for the offices White Elephant gift.
  22. I bought the bulk stuff at Waves, it works well. IMO 14 is to high. I shoot for 10 these days, trouble keeping it there, but no reactor yet. Just my .02, you might need a refund.
  23. Finally someone on the same page. Then once a day he could just use some tongs, take the fish out and turn and face the fish the other direction. They should be happy switching directions once a day.
  24. Sounded less arrogant last night after a few. It is the first time I've ever been right, I just had to point it out for the occasion. (laugh)
