  1. Last time was fun. Maybe next Sunday . . . give people time to plan for it.
  2. So your selling a frag that has not even been grown yet? What happens if the colony that is growing out doesn't make it?
  3. How big are you looking for? I have a 34g system with a 25g tank for a sump. It has a "false back wall", a closed loop, a Sunlight Supply 4 bulb T5 fixture. The skimmer is a Remora but you could keep the skimmer you have if you like. I have a few different powerheads you could choose from including a koralia nano, or a tunze nanostream. Here is a fairly current picture. The plumbing (been cleaned up a little since the picture) There are some minor scratches, but nothing to bad. The canopy is interesting to take off, but built to vent heat very well. I am moving so I would prefer to do the trade after the move. I can throw in some coin or supplies if the motive to switch the tank is just financial. I'm in Beaverton and can pick up and deliver.
  4. When I was a newb I went to the LFS every week and got 5g's of NSW. After a couple months they commented on how dilligent I was with my water changes. I asked, "What's a water change?". They asked what I was doing with all the salt water if I wasn't changing it. "Easy," I replied, "replacing the evaporation". I plumbed a tank and thought it would be slick to put the closed loop intake in the overflow box. Thought it would be sweet to not see it. Luckily I tested the power failure level in the sump. The tank drained to the highest point on the closed loop, so about 75%. I could go on for hours.
  5. While house shopping you turn down places that don't have great spots for tank, great spots to put "holes in the wall" or plumbing near where the tank will go.
  6. Spelling is Shimek . Bob Goeman also spoke of it highly in his book "Live sand Secrets". In my readings it seemed to me that the system could work for a certain amount of time but the specifications on setting up the system around the plenum greatly limit what you can keep and how you aquascape the system. Also if something goes wrong with the screen (say sand sifting worm, or snail) you have to tear apart the system to fix the screen. If the plate shifts to much it can release a lot of bad bacteria's and stored nutrients. The life span of the plenum can expire as well, so if not maintained (by tearing the tank apart) it can lead to a tank crash. There are much easier ways to filter a tank for nitrates that are available for us today. JMO
  7. To help entice it to feed, try feeding just after lights out or before they come on. I turn off my return pumps, and toss in a little food so they can start to open. Once the food hits the water they will start opening, but it takes a little while for them to open up fully where they will catch the food the best. I wait about 20 minutes the use a turkey baster to put the food right into each mouth. IME with acans once they bleach the best way to get them to color back up and not start receding is to feed them. Once they are weak like yours is now they are not as good at catching food so you have to help them. I have brought back several colonies that looked much worse then yours, even to the point where the polyps where pure white and the tissue was receding. You have a pretty good shot still IMO. Hope the helps.
  8. Sorry but wegotjs is correct. Please include a price or I will have to remove the thread.
  9. Sorry to be a downer, but you have 24 hours to post a price or this thread will be deleted.
  10. My bad caught this kind of late. I'll clear the box now.
  11. I'll stop bugging you but please PM me when you decide to part out. I can wait until the lgiht/heat needing livestock is gone before I bring over this wad of cash to pick up the stuff I want. If something else comes up before we have a deal, I'm going to jump on that. Good Luck.
  12. Still interested in the two 250's MH, the 2 Ice caps, the heaters, and the Bartlett's if you decide to part out. Possibly the sequence depeding on model. How tall is the canopy? Does the front lift up, or is there no door? Solid wood or particle board? I might want that to if your willing to break up the tank/stand/canopy combo.
  13. Thanks Scott. Great deal for sure. Those rocks were huge.
  14. Thank you Roy! It was very nice to put so many faces to screen names. Glad to have met you all.
  15. Sounds like a deal for $150. It was the brute can that pushed it over the edge for me. Now I can store it in the garage until my upcoming move. Your a shrewd business man. I'll PM you to finish out the details.
  16. Man I have not found one that lasts over a year. Every so often I wake up in the morning and my tank lights are still on. They always turn on, it's the shutting down that causes problems. I'd be interested in a cheap anwser too. RIght now I'm leaning toward a reef kepper.
  17. I have grown my own before when breeding fish. It was fairly easy. I was only keeping soft corals at the time, but they did well for me. Since I moved I no longer grow phyto and don't really keep softies so I don't have much to compare it to. My advice if you want to grow some is to pay the extra money up front and get a lab grade culture. It is so much easier to work with. I would also make sure the species you choose to work with is the appropriate one for what you are trying to accomplish, and grow the easist phyto strain that is good for what you want to do. I pure culture can be had for the cost of a couple bottles of phyto. When we finally find a house again I will be growing my own again as well. Just no space in the apartment.
  18. Is the rock still alive or has it been out of water long? Are you going to be at the meeting tomorrow? I would love to get some larger rocks for my upcoming build, but am hesitant to offer because I don't know the weight and it looks like it might be dry. Thanks.
  19. This is going to be my first meeting! ! ! ! ! What a great one to start with. I'm excited.
  20. For a controlable pump that is a pretty good price.
  21. Glad to see you here. I have ordered stuff from you before and been quite pleased. I will have to make it into your shop next time I drive through Renton. Thanks for the support.
  22. Thanks for all the referals. Seriously that's rad. If the deal goes through the work would be done in Tigard, very close to Washington Square. I'll get back on when I know more.
