  1. The way this one will work is a bit different. Basically everyone who wants to donate items will start their own thread in the auction forum. After each items time is completed the buyer and seller can work out details on picking up the goods. Think how the classified section works now, just add the auction part to it, and that the money goes to the Kennedy family. If there are sellers like Mandinga in Newburg and many buyers in Vancouver, we can try to work out one person picking stuff up and bringing it to a region. When the auction forum opens on Sunday, go ahead and start a thread with a minimum bid and let the fun commence
  2. Has many of you know we recently lost one of our own. Brandon has passed at the young age of 36 after multiple brain aneurysms. He is survived by his wife Sheryl and a young daughter Jenita. Known on the forum as Thumper, Brandon was always willing to help people out, and was a great member of our community. To honor Brandon PNWMAS is going to hold an auction starting Sunday the 1st. A special forum will be open in our classified section. Anyone who would like to post corals or equipment for auction is welcomed to. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Brandon's family to help with the over whelming expenses they face. This is really a time for us to come together as a community and do something good.
  3. We'll have to have a toast in his honor. I miss him being around too, but sounds like they are doing well where they landed.
  4. I've missed your posts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've seen the tank and done business with Doug, both are top notch! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. You might need a larger ATO reserve tank and it'd open the option for eggcrate without worrying about light loss [emoji6] that thing is a beast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Is that why you had to sell your painting of Bea to Jimmy Kimmel? With the 2 million you should be good for your Nano for a few months. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I used Kilz 7 or 8 years ago, inside the stand. Still looks great! I also put a pond liner in the stand that can hold 25g or so of water, incase of a sump breach or plumbing issue. Kinda the same thing Frank did. IIRC Blackice painted his stand with waterproof paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Welcome back. There are some easy ways to get rid of those nuissance nems, especially if your pulling the rock out.
  10. IMO I would try target feeding it with the pumps off and see how much more it expands then normal. If you have never seen it so large, it is likely your flow is to high for it. They will always expand a little bit with lower flow, but you can kinda tell IMO. Personally I wouldn't be worried with where it is at now, just time to give it some attention. JMO.
  11. Making your own 2 part is definitely cheaper then going with the Brightwell that I have been using for sure... especially the small bottles. I think for most people with larger tanks that a calcium reactor will pay for itself in time, but it is an investment.
  12. Funny, cost is why I am switching. My LFS stopped carrying the 2 part I like in larger bottles, so with the smaller bottles and the amount I dose (100mL daily) it would cost me $4 a day to continue to dose 2 part, which works out to $1460 a year. So the calcium reactor way would save me about... oh... 1300 a year.
  13. Slick! Welcome back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. It left when we changed software. I could never figure how to get it back, and then honestly I got distracted and kinda forgot about it. I liked that too. I'll get it back up if I can figure it out. Jeramy, it doesn't unfortunately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Moderator queue means that a moderator now has to approve your posts before they go live to the forum. The reason it is used is for people who are continually causing problems, have been spoken to by a BoD member, and have not changed there actions. Certain posts on this forum are not allowed e.g. personal attacks, name calling, threats of violence etc, etc, etc. Those who continue to make that kind of post are put on moderator que after a majority vote by the BOD. Moderator que is also used on all new members until they have reached 5 posts. It is why you have not seen any spam come on the forum since we have made the software switch.
  16. That is pretty legit right there. What a good company! BTW I hate hackers ... for obvious reasons.
  17. Through the software I currently show we have about 34 paid members, which is down from last year at this time by 3. The reason it looked like we had so many more before is because the old software did not automatically remove people when their membership had expired. Some people who had not paid or even participated in years were still showing as paid members. This has been taken care of with add ons to our new software. It does not look like all of the BoD/Officers have paid for this year, some of them have not even logged on this year. The ones that are left are doing our best to keep things movin.

    Fish gone blind?

IME fish blindness is usually internal parasites, although it could be caused by injury or some bacterial infections IIRC.
  19. Depending on the corals you are keeping, I might continue to feed the tank. Corals need food too.
  20. I'm excited to see so many people interested in the Beach Clean Up. SOLVE is a great group, they do a lot for the environment. It is very cool to see so many people interested in helping them out with our beaches. Pontus just so ya know, not a dime of club money has gone into this. We did talk about it in May, and I started working on this in October. Johns come along, and been a ton of help too. All the club has given thus far is just peoples time to get it together. We are joining another organization to assist them in cleaning the beaches is all. It is a far drive for me as well, but IME it is worth the trip. We'll be organizing some carpools too to save gas. If you look at all the beaches listed this year it's like SOLVE is cleaning half of our coast in one day. It's pretty awesome. As someone who runs the TFT program, helps to run the club, speaks at schools as a representative of the club, and services tanks for disabled children I can tell you there definitely is service work being done for the club, almost weekly. It's just a way for those who want to give back to be able to do so. If you don't have the time or what not, no worries man. SOLVE picks the spots, not us. Oceanside isn't on there list for this event, otherwise it might have been my top pick too. Thanks! We should totally do that. After we see which beaches are being picked, we can try to find a neutral spot somewhere. There is nothing that says the club cant go to multiple beaches. I think you were there when we talked about it at the October BOD meeting about picking beaches closest to different cities. If you and some of the Eugene guys want to pick a spot, we can help you with the registration. Helping the Ocean is a good things guys. Let's just focus on that.
  21. Air water and Ice sells the fancy washer splitter to rodi. One straight t instead of several adapters. I had to get a new one when we moved. $7 sounds pretty close, maybe another couple for shipping. Our downstairs tank has it's own unit plumbed under the bathroom sink and that works well for us too. 22. I live in Oregon City. Your not to far from me at all. I moved 400g's worth of tanks a few months ago, still have all my tubs, coolers, buckets, etc. I used to move a lot and have drug my tank around to 10 houses or so, moved a 1000 miles once. If the timing can work I'll come help you and the hubby move it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. For about 4 bucks you can put a splitter under your bathroom sink on the cold water line to run the RODI. It is very easy to do. I'm sure we can get a few people together to help you move and minimize your losses too. If those are your main fears, they are pretty easy to overcome if you want to keep the tank. I'd hate to see you get out of the hobby over something so simple.
