  1. ok, if you liver orck was just kinda "dirty" before and now it is white then it is the rock cleaning itself off. it usually means that the bacteria in the rock has processed everything and the rock is no longer full of nasty. you get the same results when you cook the rock (slow process of processing live rock to remove the nasty).

IMO, it is a good thing, shows your filtration is working good and your tank is not overstocked

BTW, i would get the salinity down big time... I actually keep mine at 1.019-1.023

  2. As pledosophy said... flow is important to remove crap from the display to the filtration... that is what i meant in my comments...

please remember when posting that this is a typed response, you may not totally understand the meaning or angle i am coming from when giving a recommendation.

it is better to ask for clarification then shooting someone down.

  4. ok, let me think this through...

if the PH on your WC water is off then your salt mix is bad and you need to replace it.

if it a consisten problem in your tank then things get really fun...

first off, PH, mag, cal, and alk are all inseperably intertwined. each one can throw the other off. you need to look at each of these levels in your WC water too, just to make sure they are correct.

one interesting thing though is if your sandbed has a hicuup then it can throw everything in your tank off balance, especially Ph, alk, and cal... as these are very important to a health sandbed. so you may want to check your tank for a nitrate or phos bloom as well to see if your sand burped. if so then you will need a big change and may want to replace sand as well.

as it stands now i hope you shut the reactor down for the time being.

  6. I finally got my camera back so here are the pictures. Keep in mind that you do loose some color when you take pictures, especially subtle hues.

    1. Mile high monti, encrusting. won in auction for a steal!

    2. Purple monti?, non-standard. nice vibrant.

    3. not sure what type but it has amazing corralite structure. sometimes you buy a brown coral because the bone structure looks cool. I used to own a variant on this and it was green so this guy may color up eventually.

    4. not sure, fuzzy digi i think, has subtle purple and green hues.

    5. classic lime green birdsnest. i lost mine a long time ago with my major tank crash
