markdadof2
My sixline has been so mellow and nice for months. All of a sudden over the last few days he has gone mad beating the heck out of my clown. Looks like I'll be fishing out a sixline in the next day or two in order to save the beloved clown! AARRGG. CA2OR
You should throw this in the top 4 fish thread as he is getting advised to get a six line in a fairly small tank. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
racefan
I was all set to get a 6 line next weekend, now I'm not so sure.
CA2OR
I would advise against it, even though I am not one you should be turning to for advice, except maybe for Duncan's as I seem to be pretty good with those. I only say that due to ALL of the horror stories I have heard regarding six lines. Yes, occasionally you will hear a good story or 2, but for every good experience you hear of with them I can probably direct you to 10 bad experiences. It is quite unfortunate as they are beautiful fish. It trully sux that Mark had this happen, especially becuase his had been so chill for so long
markdadof2
I would not really advise against it....he did what I purchased him for. He removed all flatworms from my tank. I have even had two clowns battle to near-death. Sometimes it is just a crap-shoot as to who gets along and who does not. My 'master' plan was to have my larger tank set up already and this would have alleviated the issue...but sometimes the best laid plans have delays Time to sell mr sixline or trade him in. I guess that is OK as I have two fish in my 15g nano - which is my bio-load limit in such a small tank.
downhill_biker
i know that i will always have them. i will not own a reef without one. sorry to hear about your luck. imo, if you get a bad one, take it back to the LFS and get another. chances are you wont get 2 bad ones. CA2OR
You could get a melanarus wrasse, does the same thing in eating flat worms but isn't quite as aggressive.
jason7504
you have a 15g tank mark?
markdadof2
you have a 15g tank mark? I do right now, but have a 60g cube on the way...was hoping to have it up and running by now but glass cracked and it is being replaced.

jason7504
oh man that sucks mark! i also love 6-lines and have heard lots of good stories about them..i wonder how they will fair with 2 clowns and a algae blenny in a 34g?
downhill_biker
mark, i would have to say that tank size may have something to do with that. i bet if they had enough room to have their own space you wouldn't have this problem.
ThePremiumAquarium
Every six line that I have ever had in my systems(which is probably around 20 or so) have done really well. I have had a few jumpers and a few that died straight from the wholesaler but most did really well. I agree with Curtis in that I wouldn't have a reef system with out one. I will probably have a few to use in my system once it is up and running. Garrett
Nyles
6 lines are awesome, till they go nutty, had it happen to me as well.
chewie
Agree with Nyles
Lowman
Too bad that most of the fish that eat these pests turn out to be buttheads, I put a sunrise dottyback in my coral system. they stay small, are really pretty, and he has eaten the small out break of flatworms that I had. They only get about 2" long.
fakkzz
Sorry to hear about that. I got a six line to help clean up the tank while it "heals" and I really like her. I so hope she doesn't decide to start attacking stuff. Glad to hear there are some good ones out there! Hopefully your tank will be fixed soon and you wont have to worry about that type of problem. CA2OR
I have heard that they should be the last fish you put in your tank.
AquaticEngineer
I bet the clown was asking for it (wife) (laugh)
fakkzz
I actually didn't plan on keeping one very long. i wanted more fish but needed a clean up fish as well. I'll probably be in the same boat and have to get a new home for mine once I get more fish.
CA2OR
that is why I am not getting the six line. I am getting another wrasse that does exactly what the six line does without all the aggression
jason7504
well if i still get my 6-line, i will add it last

jason7504
mark, was your 6 line added last?
markdadof2
He had been good for months....then he snapped. My timing with the 60g cube would have been great had there been no problems! oh well. I still don't regret putting him in as he eradicated the flatworms.
