CA2OR
It is this black tip reef shark for $1599.99 requires a 1200gal tank. "tank"? wouldn't that be a pool?
CA2OR
so I just got bad rep points for posting this by some retard. I am aware that somethings like this should be left in the ocean. But with that being said, look in your tank, wouldn't all of that be better off in the ocean?
CA2OR
I just find it amazing the what people will sell and buy. I also found Conco tiger fish for sale. Why would people want to house something like this? These animals require so much in swim space and so on, it would be punishing to put into captivity no? pledosophy
But with that being said' date=' look in your tank, wouldn't all of that be better off in the ocean?[/quote'] Actually some things in my tank do better then they would in the wild. Longer lifespans, faster growth. If I had the time, money and space, I could improve a sharks life, if only sharks were cool.
mrgreenthumb
Yep I agree!! Some things are more suited to and definitely do better in captivity!! Sharks are not one of them, unless your don trump and could afford a 100 square mile fish tank of a few trillion gallons
reefboy
actually sharks in the Bamboo or cat shark family and a few in the Wowbie Gong family will do quite well in a 1000 gal tank even breeding in these systems its the larger variety's like black tips and such that should only be kept by public aquariums or left in the oceans. mrgreenthumb
1000, 1,000,000,000,000 whats the difference, all are bigger than most hobbyist tanks
reefboy
well there actually are a few that can be kept in 300 gal tanks but will breed in 1000 guess I should have been more clear lol.Point being there are shark species that can be kept and thrive in smaller systems if there pacific requirements are met. mrgreenthumb
pacific hehe no pun intended right. Yes I agree there are always exceptions, but as a species as a whole, best left in the ocean
reefboy
glad you caught that little pun lol but yes as a whole best left in the big blue.
