jason7504
i have a table and dresser next to my tank..how far can the salt creep reach outward? and how can i protect my furniture against it.
Michael7979
Salt creep will go as for as the splash of the water goes. You can cover it with something.

SamatSLS
Jason, When you're able to post pics, can you take a few of the stand and a close up up the back side of the aquarium? Thanks!!
jason7504
should i replace the stock pump with a MJ1200 or is there a higher flow pump that would work too? can i use the tubing that came with the stock pump with an MJ1200? jason7504
Jason, When you're able to post pics, can you take a few of the stand and a close up up the back side of the aquarium? Thanks!! i can take some of the stand but i cant really get a good pic of the back..or do you mean a pic of the compartments?
SamatSLS
Yeah, the compartments of the tank... If you can, that would be sweet.
SamatSLS
FWIW, I don't think upgrading the return is all that important. I've always preferred slower flow through the filtration, you get better contact time in the skimmer, quieter overflow, etc... You should ramp up the circulation in tank with some powerheads. After doing a bunch of research, it looks like Koralias or Tunze's are the best bet.
jason7504
Yeah' date=' the compartments of the tank... If you can, that would be sweet.[/quote'] ok i will then

jason7504
i heard that your supposed to add the rock first then sand so that the rock can't settle to the bottom if sand dwellers disturb the sand beneath them but don't the rocks get covered in sand from the sandstorm? jason7504
bump......
undrtkr_00
With that much circulation, you'll probably end up with sand on your rocks anyway! But yeah, you'll end up with sand on your rocks and will want to blow it down or something when things settle a bit (if you do it that way). jason7504
well the pumps will be on the top but both pointed towards the middle
dstoneburg
Add the rock first, make sure it is secure on the bottom glass, then toss in the sand. Once the water clears, take a turkey baster and blow off all the sand that settled on the rocks.
jason7504
ok thanks also do you guys think that I have too much flow in my tank? i dont want my sand to fly everywhere.. i have a K1, Tunze 6045 and return pump

jason7504
yup i can't wait ..i will post a thread in the members tanks section too more questions... 1) those of you that have a solana, do you keep the top baffle on above the fuge? 2) and where do you put filter floss? above the fuge? because im thinking about keeping the top baffle/drip tray so i can put some filter floss on top of it. Im not sure where to put the chemi pure because if you put it on top so that the chemi pure takes out some nutrients in the water before it goes into the fuge, wont the chateo not get enough nutrients? so should I put the chemi pure in the return chamber instead? dstoneburg
I put my filter floss over the drip tray above the fuge.
