AquaticEngineer
I bought a 27 watt powerquad desk lamp from home depot for under $20. 6500k bulb. I got rid of the base and the attached arm and mounted the bulb, reflector, and shield to the back of my refugium.
Michael7979
Buy an old clamp on light fixture from HD/Lowes for like $6 and put in a CF bulb. Total is less then $10.
pledosophy
I use the $12 dollar bulb, but have the $6 dollar fixture. Works great. I really do like the more expensive CF bulbs that have the interanal reflector, but you do have to order them. Anyhoo I grow a massive amount of chaeto every month with my cheap light fixture, it works really well IME.

pledosophy
Looky here: http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html That is the bulb I use. I noticed a huge difference when I switched from my old CF bulb to that bulb. Less heat transfer, easier to clean, and the macro loves it. Have been able to growm mushrooms, xenia, and zoa's under it as well. JME
