We are participating in the Greater Portland Aquarium Society's Fishtoberfest event from Saturday 9/28 to Sunday 9/29 at the PDX Airport Sojourn Suites. This is usually just a freshwater aquarium show, but this year there will be several saltwater vendors there, including Goldenbasket, Upscales, PNW Custom and more. The PNWMAS will have a booth at the event on Saturday and Sunday, which we will use as outreach to the freshwater attendees, to help them learn more about our club. We'll also have an official meeting on Saturday 9/28 from 1230-3 at the event with group buys, and with raffles, including a raffle for a nice frag of the Jake Adams Crystal Experiment Montipora (see the pic of the mother colony in Steve Weast's tank below). I'll be giving one of the keynote talks at 1230 with a Q&A. The topic will be: Is saltwater really that difficult? The talk will be geared towards new-to-salt and salt-curious hobbyists on the similarities and differences between saltwater and freshwater aquariums, as well as the keys to success when starting out in saltwater.
