SuncrestReef
I know a lot of members have been in the hobby for a long time, but I'm curious to know the longest a single tank has been running amongst our members. 10 years? 20 years? 50 years??? Given how hard it is to resist the upgrade bug I will be curious to see who has a long term tank. Mine is only around three years at this point so still getting established 😀 2

Bicyclebill
Omg, I just woke up to the banner on top of my phone screen saying bicyclebill has the longest...anyway. About 50 lbs of my rock, those pesky hairy mushrooms, the green zoas and dark blue zoas are all about 25 years old. Started with a 55, upgraded to a 60 15 years ago, and have had the 90 in its current iteration for around 7 years. Lessons learned: buy the size you really want the first time and don’t skimp on equipment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

badxgillen
Bill has definately got me beat, he does have the longest. Although I too have some 20 year plus corals, my main tank has only been up for 16 or 17 years.

Actually that make you the leader as far as I can see... Bill said the 90's "only" been up 7 years 👍 16-17 years might be hard to beat! 1

TheClark
Looks like my current tank (240) has been up since August 2013, only six years! Not even close to you old salts (farts?) LOL 1

Higher Thinking
I have a freshwater 75 gal planted tank that went up February of 2011 and it's still going. It has survived three moves. Finally sprung a leak a couple years ago and I moved everything over to a replacement 75. All of the fish in there are from 2011. obrien.david.j
My current tank (something like 100-120 gallons) has been up and running since 2006. I upgraded it from a 90 gallon, which was installed in the same spot around 1998. I found my original drawings for the tank, attached. I ordered it from Sean at Waves Aquarium. That puts me at 13years on current tank, 21years on current stand. And if you're wondering, the tank has had it's ups and downs. Some years looks good, some years Not. Looks good now.
talkalot82
Have a 90 acrylic set up originally with under ground filter salt fish tank. 36 years now. Over the years its turned into a reef aquarium. Got rid of the underground filter. Added a overflow and trickle filter. But same aquarium. Didnt even move when we re carpeted. Just carpeted around it.

obrien.david.j
I concede, talkalot82 solidly beats me. I will acknowledge, I too have re-carpeted around the tank/stand and repainted around the tank more than once. I looked back there last year and could see the different wall colors over time.
talkalot82
We managed to paint the wall behind the tank. Child labor gets back there. 2
