Manny Tavan
I guess it’s time start my new tank build official thread. Will keep updating as I go. Received my tank today. One box was torn up and unfortunately one of the panel needs to be replaced. Also there is some damage to the sump (divider weir is all busted) that I am not too worried about because I am going to get rid of the sock holders and replacing them with a clarisea filter roller. This tank is a beast!
SuncrestReef
Looks awesome! (except for the damage). What size Nyos Quantum to you choose? I love my 160. I was tempted to get a WaterBox. I'll be curious to see how you like yours. Following.
Manny Tavan
I think it’s the 160. Was free with the tank during black friday waterbox is shipping a new side panel right away.
SuncrestReef
I customized my Quantum 160 with an Avast neck cleaner and skimmate locker integrated with my Apex to automate cleaning and turn off the skimmer when full. I only need to empty it about every 10-14 days. Let me know if you want any tips on setting up something like this. 2
Krux
I was thinking of going the Avast route myself, but hadn't seen one done on a Nyos. My 120 doesn't have the drain port so that is out, but the neck cleaner interests me. How difficult was making the modification to the lid? Manny Tavan
Might go with a skimmate locker depending on how much room i have left in the cabinet after im done mounting all the essentials. I usually skim very dry. On my 34g i only empty/clean the curve 5 cup every 2 weeks

I don’t have the tools to do it cleanly, so I sent my Nyos lid to Avast and they installed it for me. They call it the Swabbie Retrofit on their website.

How difficult was making the modification to the lid?i did mine, it is stupid easy. the include a device to measure the center of a circle. It literally took 20 minutes to drill, wire and install it. I went with the monkeyboy skim jug 2000. lasts about 3 weeks before it needs emptying. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 7

CrabbyCrabs
Any clue how the sump was damaged when it was inside the tank? Seems like it must have been broken before even shipping.

No way they can jump over it during shipping
CrabbyCrabs
If it was shipped UPS I would not rule out it being thrown off a plane during landing. I've had stuff shipped that would appear that's how they unloaded stuff.
Manny Tavan
Took two hours to put together because it comes in pieces but it’s a good quality product. Can’t wait to give it a try
jtarmitage
Nice. Would be interesting to see in person sometime when it's up and running. Feel free to hit me up if you need a hand with anything. I think I can manage the drive lol
Manny Tavan
Still trying to figure out how many people it will take to move from the garage to the dining room. I’m guessing at least four. 3/4” glass is heavy...

I really like your 'sand' idea too!

Manny Tavan
Waited a week to get my replacement cabinet panel and this is what I received (two out of four corners are damaged) Bummer.
