freddyk
Hi I have a tank that is done cycling. I used dry rock and Dr Tim's with ammonia for a fishless cycle. I wanted to avoid actual live rock in an attempt to avoid unwanted hitchhikers but now I have to face the realization that I need some diversity. The only website I could find that sells worms and mini stars is Indo Pacific Sea Farms but their site has not been updated in 5 years and it is really expensive after shipping. My goal was to attempt to have a 'clean' system with quarantine and all of that but I guess I am going to have to risk it a bit in the name of diversity. Does anyone that has a sucessfull aptasia free system want to trade for 5 of the group buy trochus snails or give me a bag of sand with worms and stars in it? I will be at the meeting on Sunday. Or if you know of an online retailer with these critters or any other advice I would love to hear it. Thanks
youcallmenny
Asterina's are a pest. Bio-diversity is great until you intentionally introduce exactly what you were trying to avoid!
Emerald525
Like youcallmenny said you don’t want asterimas and bristle worms and brittle stars just seem to “show up” when you buy enough frags!
Blue Z Reef
Why not start with some pods? Easy to obtain and good for the system overall. stars are cool sometimes until you turn around and what looked like 10 became 100 became 100000000000 billion. My 210 gal tank I used to vacuum up like 100 or more every time I did a major water change off the glass and within a matter of weeks, couldn’t tell I killed them off. The ones I had I never noticed eating any corals but some people have the issue so why risk it? At least with PODs you could just get a mandarin to take care of them if you felt plagued by them LOL
freddyk
Well that is three votes to zero so I will place myself in the convinced column. The worms always gave me the creeps anyway. Thanks guys! 1 1

youcallmenny
I love bristle's. I've never managed to find one over 6-8 inches but I've always kept wrasses too. I think they're pretty useful as detritivores.
