TheClark
Looks like it turned out great to me! Let us know if the cheato grows. Nice work and thanks for sharing!
lewisriverfisherman
I made myself a diy frag rack. I used some light defuser from home depot and some magnets that came from a non working koralia power head. I just used some super glue gel and aquarium epoxy.Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
bladedrummer
Nice, how is that skimmer working out so far?
lewisriverfisherman
So my refugium chamber seems to be doing pretty good. I have cheato, a red macro algea, and looks like some sort of green hair algea that just started growing.Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
freddyk
It looks like that inexpensive grow light is doing the job
lewisriverfisherman
Nice, how is that skimmer working out so far?Well it's not what I want in a skimmer but I am still messing with it. It seems like it really wet skin so I glued a piece of egg crate on the bottom to raise it up a bit.The first pic is when I first got the skimmer.Pic #2 still working on dialing it in.The 3rd pic is after raising it up with egg crate. Still working on dialing it in. I have heard that the aquamaxx nf 1 will fit so i am toying with the idea of getting one some time In the near future. bladedrummer
Wet skimmate isn't the end of the world even though I get your frustration. I have a Macro Aqua 50 on my 35g and so far it only pulls out dirty water and little foam. This is when it's set to the minimum which is kind of annoying. There is no way to raise the collection cup, you can just tune the water and air flow so when it's at the lowest flow, that's as good as it's going to get. I'm just hoping it breaks in and starts pulling denser skimmate. It's still very new, less than 2 weeks.
lewisriverfisherman
Well I have not done a very good job of updating my build thread. Along the way I fastly started filling my tank with various corals and a few fish. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
lewisriverfisherman
And of course I keep buying coral to put in my little AIO. It's been way to long since I had a saltwater tank and yet signs of the old addiction are starting to rear its ugly head. I'm starting to bid on auctions, and setting an alarm to remind myself auctions are ending. Im looking up all the fish stores in the area and find time to visit as many as I can..........oh and don't forget the group buys! lewisriverfisherman
I NEED HELP!!! Please make it stop...YES I won another auction. I realize that I have a problem and that's , I like to buy coral and put it in this tank that has..........Oh ya that's right, a case of the new tank ugly's. I find myself staring at this beautiful coral and my tank has dino's everywhere. Nitrates got a bit high and started to do back to back water changes. I started sucking the dinos with a Turkey baster and filter the water with filter floss. I'm thinking to my self I hope this does not last to longSent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
lewisriverfisherman
Ewwww what's all this red stuff? Yep dinos and red slime now oh boy oh boy. By this point in my story I'm sucking dinos and red slime out during water changes 3 times a week. What I can't suck off I'm blowing off rocks and frag disks. I'm not running any filter floss at this point in time because I'm not very diligent in changing them ie lazy. But put some in now, turn up the flow and baste away.Yes yes I know I need to stop buying CORALSent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
lewisriverfisherman
I've been going to these fish meetings. People say you need to go to meetings to talk about your addiction and impulse buying..........I thought these meetings were supposed to help? Krux
You are going to be in real trouble once you realize those all grow, they don't stay puppies forever... 1
lewisriverfisherman
Wow I haven't done an update in quite a while. I'm sad to say some of the sps above are not with me anymore due to my temp controller went faulty due to a bad temp probe. I also had a bad calcium swing, at 1 point it was at 1550 and I'm not sure how long it was there for before I noticed it. The tank has 2 hydra 26 over it right now, I know over kill but if you got em you might as well use em. I am running mostly blue light right now as the whites are at only 7% for a couple hours a day. My tank is still jam packed though, my ORA Red Planet made it thru as well as a Garf Bonzi, PC Rainbow, Greg Hiller's Aqua Delight, and a few others. The tank is starting to get stable again and corals are starting to have good growth again. I've been trying to keep my parameters as follows : Alk 8.6 Cal 430 Mag dont test No3 10 No4 ? Dont have a good test Sal .025 I have been trying to do weekly 5 gal water changes when I have time. I am running a bag of chemi pure blue. Still running the ghost skimmer but it is very poor in my opinion.
