jonas503
Has anyone's melanurus wrasse killed other fish or eat all the cuc? Pretty sure mine killed my blue spotted jawfish and now my algae blenny. Plus all my cuc is gone. 😡

albertareef
I honestly haven't heard of them being particularly aggressive toward other fish (mine isn't) but they definitely can have a taste for small inverts. Â I have been lucky in that mine has left my CUC alone but I know plenty of folk have reported this behavior.
jonas503
Not 100% sure it was him but he was attacking the dead  carcass. And he was the only one doing that so figure it's him.
Blue Z Reef
Never had an issue with fish but mine was always an opportunist if snails flipped over. My crew was mostly down to turbos before I downsized.
Aquanius
Mine is very aggressive to new tank mates. Â I also had my cleaner shrimp disappear overnight one day. Â I am pretty sure it was the Mel.
reefrun
My melanius is pretty mellow.. my 8 line in the frag tank however is a beast! There's no way I could put another fish in with him and he has decimated my clean up crew. I"m only able to keep a nudibranch and a tiger conch untouched so far.
Dlinehan113
eating the carcass doesn't mean he killed them... all fish are opportunistic so if there is a free meal (ie dead fish) they will pick at it. Melanurus are usually pretty mellow... but all fish are different... most of the "rules" are generalized to makes things easier, but they are never 100% accurate... keep an eye on him... i feel its unlikely he killed a jawfish or a blenny as they dont really compete for the same food or hang out in the same area of the tank...
shaywood
As mine grew larger, it became a bully in my tank. So I had to remove it.
