Bicyclebill
Today, June 7 2015, who out there is still running metal halides?

badxgillen
Although the last meeting got me thinking...It is possible, if I had time to do it, I might mimic the look via DIY LEDs, maybe.
Higher Thinking
I love that you included the date in your post, hahaha!
LadySaber
I have never done metal halides but I am thinking of going back to T5s
Emerald525
Have not used metal halides in a while. They really heated up the basement and really sucked up the power. I have to say leds have come a long way but still like the ati t5 lights better. I live the spread of them and they don't have the shadowing and just all the color combinations. I'm sticking with my maxspect as I like the programmable feature and the look and that I don't have to change out the bulbs!
vicmacki
I just traded in a 150w metal halide to the lfs. Got a bit of credit for it.
SeanS
I still run MH, and have no reason to change. The tank only requires a single 250w fixture, and I run it as a pendant, so the cost and heat aren't really factors for me. LEDs may be more practical for most applications, but nothing looks as nice as a Radium or Phoenix IMO.
rworegon
I'm still running a Halide / T5 combo over a 39gal cadlights bowfront. Its where my 13 annenomes live and split, along with toadstool, leather, and my Mandarin.
batchelor
I run a 250w radium and two OR SO26 led's over my 150g.

Bombertech
Just curious because I was talking with a friend the other day about it, what is this LED shadowing complaint I keep hearing everywhere? Disco Shadowing? Lack of defined shadow edges?
