reefcam
I was wondering if anyone locally is using the salt from Pacific Coast Imports? And if so, have you measured the PO4, CA, ALK, NO3 in a fresh batch of mixed salt?

WAVES
Jim I bought some and used it in the past, I hated it. I never bothered to check the numbers because it dissolved so poorly. I could leave a pump running on it over night and come back to foggy water. It left a very thick residue in the garbage can so I dont use it or sell it any more. If you heat the water up to a solid 80+ degrees it does much better, but thats too much work for me

reefcam
what kind of results were you seeing? I'm currently using Oceanic as I ran out of Ocean Pure.
ThePremiumAquarium
From what I have heard, Oceanic is the best for the buck. I have used it since last year and have been very pleased. I started with Instant Ocean and was pleased with that too. I then switched out of pure cost over to Pacific Coast salt. I lost alot of stuff when I did that. I don't recommend trying it. Stick with Oceanic or Instant Ocean IMO. Garrett
impur
I started with Oceanic 3 years ago and have used it exclusively since. I love the high levels of ca, mg, and occasionally alk (laugh)
Twitterbait
IO all the way. Since i only have a 10g nano i just use the natural SW right now.
reefcam
Thanks folks. Not trying to start a salt war. I started using Oceanic when it first came out and then switched to Ocean Pure when they first came out. I saw Pacific Coast salt at a LFS when I visited on over the weekend and was wondering what people thought about it. As for the high level of CA, Mg, etc., IMO and for myself, I would rather have a salt that provides the recommended level. As an SPS addict and keeper in the past, having elevated levels cause coloration with the SPS. But now that I'm LPS and softies...
