reef165
With one of the setups I got of CL the tank had what I believe is that play sand. Now I would prefer to use the finely crushed coral, but I have this stuff. I'm curious as to if anyone still uses it, especially in a SPS tank? Thanks, Eddie
Higher Thinking
I've only used play sand in freshwater planted tanks. Idk if that can provide the same benefits as crushed coral sand, but I'm no expert.
rworegon
I would say no. With an sps tank you either want to go bare bottom with lots of flow, or aragonite substrate with lots of flow. You never know what you're getting with play sand, but I would guess lots of phosphate and absolutely no buffering capacity.
reef165
All I know is years ago when I got out people were still using it, I never did and didn't recommend it, but allot can change in a couple years so I thought I would ask. Now.... Dose anyone know who has in stock, crushed coral sand?
rworegon
I would say just about any LFS should have aragonite sand in stock. Most will have different grades.
