lucid
Just got my first tank all set up, been running around 1.5 weeks. Looking to populate the tank with a few beautiful colonies.

grassi
I suggest you to wait a little bit. Did you see some brown "powder" looking stuff on sand, glass or rock yet?

lewisriverfisherman
untill you tank finishes cycling i would only add zoanthids or mushrooms.
stylaster
i agree better start with soft corals, i would still give the tank another week though. Maybe add a small fish first and wait another week to make sure its doing ok. Also test your ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels
newfisher
I used to rush out and spend my wad on AMAZING corals during the 1st 6 months that my first tank was up and running. If I would have just slowed down and been patient, I could have funded the next 2 tanks with the money I had lost in live animals (coral), not to mention all the different test kits, 2 part, mag, calcium , salt etc. that I tried. My suggestion is to keep looking at stuff, go to stores, meetings, forums etc. but leave you wallet in the car for 6 months. After succesfully getting Zoa's and mushrooms to multiply and everything is stable for that period, then get some cool stuff.

steelhead77
Am getting the parameters tested this weekend. Was just looking to see what people had out there. Uhh...I think the first thing you should buy is a reliable test kit. And then like others have said, wait at least a few months before adding anything more than a few mushrooms or zoas.
