NoobtoSalt
So I have started to notice that I have a large sponge in my main tank which I'm not so worried about. But in my sump I have quite a few smaller sponges growing. Is there anything to worry about? I also have sponges growing in my 10 gallon puffer tank. If anyone wants some feel free to come grab them as well..(laugh)
ReeFit
thats pretty normal. its signs of a healthy tank, but you will want to clean them off your equipment and make sure they don't overgrow any corals. i usually clean the sump equipment once every 3-4 months. NoobtoSalt
I just did some more reading on them and it doesn't sound like they are a problem too much. I was pretty worried last night that it would take over the zoas I got from you was my main concern.
ReeFit
they can take over and they can kill sensitive corals.
NoobtoSalt
I pulled off what I could but I'm sure it will grow back. Now that I know that it's there I will just keep pulling it off once in awhile. Thankfully it's only on one frag.
jadams7
So I have some bright green sponge growing on one of my zoa rocks, and the zoas are not all that happy, could it be that the sponge is taking over or making them angry? All my other zoas are doing great, and I have never had a problem with sponge and zoas before.

jadams7
Haha yea thats what I figured. It is definitely touching in some spots, time to go tear it out!
NoobtoSalt
So from what I understand your going to clean my sump equipment every 3 to 4 months? What a nice guy....lol. I thought this topic was a little funny since I was just talking to you the other day about the big sponge. I just never noticed them all over the tank.
