Tat2d
I have dealt with this issue once and for all. Went to the auto parts store, and bought some black corrugated split loom wire casing. I couldn't find 1" ID, so I had to use two pieces of 3/4" ID (one overlapping the other to cover the tubing completely. No more light, no more algae.(clap) And I can easily just pull them off if I need to get to anything. Here's a couple of pics

Smann
You might look into the "Lee's" black vinyl tubing, Upscales carries it but I'm sure you can fin it online. It's avaiable in several sizes from 1/2" thru 1" maybe more
aquariansaltwater
Got another easy fix for you...I went to Norvak Electronis and they carry Heat shrink tubing for coating wire in about 25 sizes and all sorts of colors. It comes in 3 foot long tubes. I get one slightly larger than my flex tube and slip it over the tube...works really well. And it's super cheap. =0) Matt
