Michael7979
But yet again........ They only tested 6 brands. Maybe someday someone will test more brands at the same time. Including brands that are the most commonly used, (i.e. Kent, IO, and the like). But I'll read the entire article and see what it has to say. Algae
I thought it was Plato's Cave Allegory with Socrates on the side. Then again, Newfisher likely thought it was how much to tip a pole dancer after 3 shots of whiskey.

reef165
Yes that very well be the oldest question! I didnt get into the artical that much but I did watch the waterchange vid, dose anyone turn off there light's to do a water change? That was the first time I've heard of that. As for the salt, it seems like every year or so the next best thing claming to be the best or closest to natural comes out. The truth is if someone could come up with a salt that was consistant from bucket to bucket and from year to year then they may have something. I think to many times we relly to much on eather, the few good or the few bad experiances people have with a product and not look at the overall success of the product. undrtkr_00
First water change after I switched to halides, I burned some of the corals that were above the water. (sad)(sad) So, yeah, now I turn off the lights.
andy
IMO, what salt you use matters a whole heck of a lot less than how you use it -- regular water changes and stable parameters matter a whole lot more.
Emerald525
Hmmm, I thought the oldest question was glass versus acrylic. I couldn't decide so I got both. We will be mixing our own salt the first time this weekend... It is time....

reefnjunkie
Didn't you know? Mixing your own salt? Table, Iodized and Kosher- promotes strong coral growth-ancient Chinese secret- OFF TOPIC-AGAIN-
Emerald525
Mixing your own salt? You know not buying it already mixed up. But I like reefnjunkies idea. I think I will just sprinkle a little table salt over the tank!
andy
Ok, got'cha -- I thought you were saying you were going to build your own salt mix, and I was trying to decide whether I should try and talk you out of it or sit back and watch the show

I haven't ever even mixed my own salt and am not afraid to admit it much less make a new formulation! (laugh)
racefan
When I click the link it just says "Page not found Sorry, the page you were looking for in the blog Marine Depot Blog does not exist"
andy
It looks like Marine Depot pulled the blog posting and the PDFs. I guess Practical Fishkeeping didn't appreciate having PDFs of their upcoming article blasted all over the internet.
