moovinfast
Im thinking I might want to try adding some to my tank. Does anyone grow their own? Have you seen any benefits or ill effects?
wanareef
Got a couple of disk ordered. I had gotten a free bottle of Phyto and used it in the tank, and the bugs multiplied, more were crawling on the glass. I know the feather dusters were enjoying it. pledosophy
I have grown my own before when breeding fish. It was fairly easy. I was only keeping soft corals at the time, but they did well for me. Since I moved I no longer grow phyto and don't really keep softies so I don't have much to compare it to. My advice if you want to grow some is to pay the extra money up front and get a lab grade culture. It is so much easier to work with. I would also make sure the species you choose to work with is the appropriate one for what you are trying to accomplish, and grow the easist phyto strain that is good for what you want to do. I pure culture can be had for the cost of a couple bottles of phyto. When we finally find a house again I will be growing my own again as well. Just no space in the apartment.
