Anyone grow phytoplankton?

I have grown my own before when breeding fish. It was fairly easy. I was only keeping soft corals at the time, but they did well for me.

Since I moved I no longer grow phyto and don't really keep softies so I don't have much to compare it to.

My advice if you want to grow some is to pay the extra money up front and get a lab grade culture. It is so much easier to work with. I would also make sure the species you choose to work with is the appropriate one for what you are trying to accomplish, and grow the easist phyto strain that is good for what you want to do.

I pure culture can be had for the cost of a couple bottles of phyto.

When we finally find a house again I will be growing my own again as well. Just no space in the apartment.
