reef165
Dose anyone think these would have a place in a reef application? http://www.advance.philips.com/ProductBrand.aspx?id=2&pcid=3&pbid=
jgf86123
It depends on the Kelvin rating you can get the bulbs in, but yes, I say they probably would, especially in small, 5g- nanos, that would be awesome to be able to put a halide over. reef165
I found one site that said it is a 3k bulb. Not great but maybe in the near future someone will make a higher K bulb for our needs. But with enough act supplementation it still may work. jgf86123
In 6 months, you'll see 10k 20w MH bulbs on the market, halides originally started out in as an industrial light and was slowly adapted to aquaria.
finch6013
that type of thing and similar bulbs have been around for a while. We install them all the time on track lights for store displays and display cabinets. I think they would be ok for a sump or something. and the colors can be adjusted slightly with a buck boost transformer. We do it all the time. impur
They already make lights for tank with HIDs. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=21459 I imagine its only a matter of time before they make them with those lower wattages.
