ciao
Does anybody have any tricks they could share on ways to dampen the sound from the overflow boxes? I finally got my tank set up and the water going into the overflow boxes seem a little loud.
reef165
What kind of overflow? Internal, external, HOB u-tube type?
ciao
Internal. They are corner overflow boxes. The tank is about ~2.5' high
reef165
I used to fill the overflow with bio-balls, or ya can do a duroso stand pipe.
CA2OR
What is loud about it?
ciao
The distance of the water going from the top of the box to the water level is loud. Oddly enough, the box on the other side is a lot quiter. Go figure! If I used a duroso stand pipe and bring the water level to say 6" below the top of the overflow box, would this cause any problems? I'm just thinking would the oxygenation of the water be poor then?
ThePremiumAquarium
Ciao, This is what I had on my last tank and it was dead silent. I actually had my durso pipe come to about 2 inches below the overflow. Really helped.
undrtkr_00
I have a durso also, but I wish I had set it up to be just a little bit taller. Water now falls 3-4" and it is a little loud for me while watching a movie, etc. Maybe someday I'll get around to redoing it.
