Parzifal
so its a simple question but i have to ask anyway. why do i see so many pictures of people raising their skimmer above the sump bottom? what is the benefit? is it simply to put the pump under the skimmer to save on footprint area? Randy-S
are you talking about skjimmers that sit in or outside the sump?
CCR
I have not seen a pump UNDER the skimer. My guess is 2 fold. First to keep it above the water line of the sump. Another words not sinking the skimmer. Another words half the skimmer in water. 2nd would be to isolate the vibration and prevent detris from settling under it. madmike
Some skimmers perform best in a certain amount of water depth... if your sump has more depth than the recommended you can raise the skimmer to that height.
blown65
I believe one of the octopus skimmers has it under, not sure though. I know I saw one the other day though while browsing around.
