Hog Head
I am thinking of going with a 180g instead of a 100-125g tank. Will my Maristar fixture, 750w, be enough light for a 180g tank? It is only 2" deeper than the 125g. Most of what I am into are the softies (love the movement) but I would like to have some birds nest, acropora and my wife really wants a RBTA. Possibly a clam or two also. Thanks, Gene
stylaster
should be fine, i would keep the clams and SPS at the upper levels of your tank
ThePremiumAquarium
Yah, You should be fine. I would eventually upgrade to a 1200w fixture or 400w every 2ft if you find that you are keeping mostly sps, clams, or other high light demanding corals. I had 400w HQI's running over my 210g and in many areas still wished I had more light, though it definatley worked just fine Garrett

I'll just layer all my shrooms towards the bottom, zoas in the middle and the rest towards the top.
