ChrisQ
I thought i just had a really fat lawnmower blenny but when i woke up today he was much thinner and was guarding his eggs, not much of a parent though, he was pretty quick to leave when i noticed his eggs. I guess this explains the marble sized lump in his stomach and the fact hes been chasing the mag cleaner around when i clean.
Blue Z Reef
Lol that's cool! Do you have 2 or did you just buy a preggers? Will be interesting to see if they hatch
JManrow
Hint: There is a very good chance the "he" may be a "her". Do you have more than one lawnmower blenny? if not, there is also a very good chance the eggs will not hatch.
ChrisQ
This is the only one in the tank and i've owned him/her for at least 4-5 months.
ChrisQ
This is in my frag tank with a great deal of flow with a six line, yellow tang and a springari damsel. Plus, where he/her decided to lay the eggs is about 6'' from the damsels den so with the flow and tank mates i don't expect much hope for them unfortunately. JManrow
In the event that the eggs are fertile, here is some spawning/rearing info: Marine Ornamental Fish & Invertebrate Breeders http://www.marinebreeder.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=163&t=7949 The Breeder's Registry http://breedersregistry.org/spawning-reports/salarias-fasciatus-salfas-010600-halhog-001/ The Marine Breeding Initiative http://www.mbisite.org/Forums/tm.aspx?m=40333

JManrow
I encourage you to find a mate for her. You know she is a female, and sexually mature. According to the Breeder Registry report, the male "develops several orange spots and speckles in the dorsal fin, making him appear more colorful and “impressive”." ChrisQ
Here's a good read on the subject, i'm entertaining the idea of looking for a male. http://www.researchgate.net/publication/225423824_Seasonal_changes_in_reproductive_and_physical_condition_sexual_dimorphism_and_male_mating_tactics_in_the_jewelled_blenny_Salarias_fasciatus It won't let me attach the .pdf so you'll have to download it.
rworegon
Mine always chases the mag cleaner as well. I don't think that's the reason. But, congrats on being an almost grandpa.
fishboys
That's awesome. Worst case is free food for the other fish. Best case is what would be awesome though. Good luck.
